[SPOILERS] Watch pindicator get distracted by shiny bonuses

Jester, I must have messed up the passive beaker build-up trick you were telling me about, because all those beakers have been dumping into Calendar. I don't know why they're going into Calendar specifically, but I highlight the tech this turn and it has 120 beakers put into it. So I'm just going to finish up researching it; it's 3 turns at 0% and I have 3 turns left of Caste System.

Report will come later, because I'm trying to get the turn played and then I'm traveling to visit my brother for the weekend. I'll still have access so the game will keep going.

Turn 71

Yuri had a good turn in t70:

Will need to keep an eye on his power - those are war civics he's swapped into. I don't understand the Organized Religion with no religion swap, but hopefully he has a religion swap before the GA ends. I seriously doubt Yuri is going to send that stuff my way, too - we really don't share anything of a border since he's expanded in the other direction.

Speaking of war, is there really another explanation for this? (Pic from last turn)

You'll notice his galley took the offending vulture and my worker away. Well, that would not stand. Let it not be said that I am above petty retributions!

Unless he has a chariot in the fog, I should be able to load up worker & archer next turn and get away. (Although another civ now has Metal Casting, so he could potentially be making a trireme to surprise me.)

Like I said before, Calendar was getting the passive beakers from us not selecting anything. I decided to just put research on Calendar for that reason. Going to want to grab those nearby banana sites next anyway - oh, that reminds me: dazed has retreated his annoying spear+chariot group. If they keep retreating then I will settle that gold site with my next settler.

Then I ended turn and we had the RNG swing our way:

So next turn I think i will switch out to Theology. Maybe I will finish Calendar? Dunno, there's no reason to. Honestly, the only reason I kept on Calendar was because the beakers from the passive build-up didn't build-up: they went into Calendar anyway. And I had no idea what I would want to tech until after seeing the great person. Still, perhaps HBR or Construction would have been better to put beakers into. Or I could have picked up a few more merchants to get the tech in. Still, Theology next turn. Calendar can wait until I actually need it before I finish it off.

When I ended turn we finally got graphs on all 5 people! Here is what it looks like:

Up to 3rd in food. But still way off the pace.

Turn 72 was just played (I was wrong in my last report but I've corrected the turn numbers there). We can get Theology in 2 turns, and then bulb Civil Service.

The GP should bulb around 725 out of 766 beakers for Civil Service. So 73 I will finish Theology; t74 I will finish Civil Service; and t75 I will revolt into Bureaucracy and back into Slavery as well.

I'm ready to settle my next city (circled in the blue). This one will probably cost me, and I can't see many more cities after that. Definitely 1 to the northwest to get that border with dazed. Speaking of dazed, I need to watch out for his galley. Of course, he'll probably pillage my crab next but until I get metal casting I don't thinK I can do much for that.

Demos:

Seven has to be doing some massive Wealth building. I can't think of any other way he can have such a commanding GNP & MFG lead. Also of note: at end of turn I bumped up to 134 in crop yield, which is good enough for 3rd place. Now to catch 2nd place.

Turn 74

Man, I don't know what turn I'm on. The screenshot says turn 74 so that's what I'm going with.

I settled my city to firm up a western border

Four-Legged Man was my 11th city and when I found it my empire expenses went up 11g, so I'm safely done settling cities until i can get some courthouses down. I ran an artist this turn to get the border pop immediately. Next turn we'll start hooking up toward that stone -- and the stone will go toward building Moai.

I had to hire an additional merchant and pillage a windmill but I just got enough gold to keep up 100% for this one last turn. Next turn we'll turn off science again and get Civil Service on the bulb + overflow.

Next turn is also 1AD so I'm saving up for a bigger update then.

Went back and checked, and somebody teched Civil Service last turn. So I'm guessing Seven beat me to it by 2 turns. I don't know what else everybody is teching; I've been tracking the number of people know each tech with GNP and not much is changing.

Turn 75

I may have survived until the ADs, but now things get more interesting. For example, Seven seems to have objected to my northeastern-most settlement:

He galleyed in a pair of praets on the blue circled tile. Inside of the city I have a shock axe, a CG1 archer, and a C2 spear. Probably not good. The workers 1W of the city will finish a chop next turn; that will go into another C1 axe. And on the way from the center I have another pair of axes. Hopefully they arrive in time. I didn't do combat odds earlier but it looks like I'll have about 55% odds to win with the Shock axe, so if I get lucky enough there I should hold on. Still, I need to make sure all my cities bordering Seven have a pair of shock axes at least.

The other big news of the turn was bulbing Civil Service

I like how I get near 100bpt at 0% science. Of course that all goes away next turn when I revolt to Bureaucracy & Slavery. I'm actually a little worried that I will have to run some Wealth builds in order to keep out of the red at 0%. Just look at my expenses:

I really do need some Courthouses down. Thankfully I've been starting to build exactly that

While we're showing off empire-wide stats, here's my military. Need more workers too, since I'm up to 11 cities now:

And demos

Forgot to add that Seven also started a golden age last turn - and revolted into Caste, Org Rel, & Bureau along with Confucianism. Yuri also took a turn of anarchy to revolt into Hinduism. That means Seven is the opponent that does not have Monarchy yet, else why not revolt into HR? (Remember that GNP scrying has showed Monarchy is known by 3 other civs.) So at least I don't have to worry about a Guilds beeline from him.

Also, another civ has Civil Service. So I will be the third person to reach that benchmark.

And someone has finally teched HBR. Maybe I should divert to that before going Metal Casting?

lol

I just realized how Seven is running away with this. Oh man, I should have picked Roosevelt as a leader. It's so obvious, if I would have put 5 seconds worth of energy into it I would have come up with it too. That's what I get for being on auto-pilot this game. (And I thought he had to be building Wealth everywhere bang )

Can you elaborate?

Well, I figure trade routes from TGL & island settlements coupled with the Code of Laws beeline and ORG just let him REX away. I thought he had to have been building Wealth (and maybe there was some of that) but that seems like what he did, and really what a logical idea for this map would be.

Speaking of Seven, he teched Alphabet this last turn. I smell a Philosophy bulb coming up alright
