Fair dinkum. Pindicator and I actually debated razing Ghuzz and planting 2E, but that's 8 tiles of roading. Not a very speedy gold hookup.

The Battle of Ghuzz
...was not a very big deal. Chariot rolls forward, wins 88% battle, captured.

Having taken the city, though...this is awesome. Three crabs and flatland pigs are excellent food, but the real winner short term is all about the trade route. There's a tenuous little diagonal path of coast north of Superdeath's capital that leads to Clinton. Intercontinental link, +8 commerce immediately. Kept this glorious gift.
Pindicator was bored at work keenly invested in optimizing the empire, so I took shots of all our cities. Turn 80 the Empire of Vice has:
Burr, the Capital
![[Image: ONaqWhH.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/ONaqWhH.jpg)
Ah, Burr. You're the best city. It's so very sad that you can't work your tiles. This right here is exemplifying why we are next settling a sad little foodless city solely for the purposes of getting gold. Three more improved tiles already made, and I want to quickly make two more riverside cottages. Ideally by turn 110 we'll have the four dry grasslands also cottaged and worked. Life goals?
Clinton, the Copper Lieutenant
![[Image: MIshTki.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/MIshTki.jpg)
Now I'm less urgent about cottaging here in Clinton. At this point, the city can't claim a single food or even semi-food (floodplains) source for itself, but it does share quite a lot of food. We were very lucky with the copper location here, easy hook up. I don't think we're going to invest heavily in commerce boosts; RBmod watermills will work well enough here. Good helpful boy.
Gerry, Inland Boy
![[Image: tzQto5d.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/tzQto5d.jpg)
The only inland city we have, or perhaps ever will have, Gerry was another lucky settle, in this case giving us horses (our own horses are in a terrible location). Pindicator, what do you think about making this another cottage town? We need about three. This, Burr, and Superdeath's Capital?
Tompkins, the Second Second City
![[Image: hQtvvQh.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/hQtvvQh.jpg)
Tompkins is a nice little city, nothing special. I'm going to call it our "shipbuilding center" for what it's worth. Another galley gets whipped in two turns, and I'll be setting forth to get GOLD in THEM THAR HILLS. I like Tompkins. Well done, Daniel.
Calhoun, Stone-ground Wheat
![[Image: IlbK3WD.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/IlbK3WD.jpg)
This has to be more than a little depressing to Superdeath. This is another city that ought to be a fine first-ring city for him, but alas, it's not to be. Calhoun itself is going to be...kinda lame? Outside of the special resources, this is flat plains, the city. Eh, workshop.
Johnson, Helpful Leech
![[Image: p87NIT3.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/p87NIT3.jpg)
In the endgame, this poor city has three riverside plains farms, a riverside windmill, and a grass mine. Miserable. But in the here and now, this city is pretty clutch; we're pitifully happy limited, so the amount of food we're wasting is just sick in Clinton/Burr. Thus, Dick Johnson here. Not rushing on the galley, as Dallas (née Ghuzz) provides all the trade we need, so we'll be able to explore at leisure.
Stephens, Infra Haul
![[Image: DaWRAco.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/DaWRAco.jpg)
I could spend a good long time gushing about the gift that this city was. Superdeath literally did everything he could to improve this city, and never used more than a single fish as he continually whipped. This bespeaks an impressive amount of optimism. Good for him I guess. I'm delighted, in any case. Granary, lighthouse, and this sucker is going to be whipping up a storm.

So hey gang, does anyone know why on Earth we can't see Naufragar's resources/trade?

Doesn’t he need to have defogged a path to your city to trade with you? By next turn it may be fixed since you settled near his city.

Are you sure he has resources? What does F4 say? Was he logged in when you clicked his name?

I think it might be a trade route to the capital, so same reason we aren't getting ICTRs from Naufrager.
Speaking of which, be careful about the OB you give. Our island cities may give a lot of free commerce out if they don't have off shore cities if their own

Well, if maintenance costs don't increase at the end of turn we'll have HBR. Hopefully that means we can finish off superdeath within a dozen turns.
We're also unloading the gold city settler next turn.

...kids, please don't neglect your scouting.
In other news, I've now mapped Superdead Island. I'm not entirely happy with the dotmap; there's the ridiculous smorgasbord that is Dallas, and...two fish. Despite that, there are a lot of forests, riverside, and enough hills, this is a fair and pleasant land.

Gamewinner is going to be rocking a soul-crushing >50 cities, given the huge map size. Need to get cracking.
