No, it should be more simple. I use Dropbox and swear by it for civ. Goes like this:
1) Right-click picture, choose "copy public link"
2) Paste into IMG tag
That's it. If you choose "public link" then you don't have to change the URL at all.
So, to further spam our thread, we've been discussing a name scheme for our units, and we ended up with female Aes Sedai from the Wheel of Time series. To let Yossarian have a handy list available for unit naming, and also a reference for myself, here is the first 20 Aes Sedai names that we'll be using:

I assume you have the pictures in the folder "public" then? Because I don't have that option at all, and nor do I have a folder named "public"... Keep in mind that Yossarian and I am sharing my dropbox space (I have a lot more space than I need thanks to HTC). I'm not sure if I can just create that folder and share it with Yossarian?
Yeah, dropbox doesn't work that way for me either, I've got it set as a folder in my computer, which might be different to how you use it scooter? Anyway, I write my turn reports in a text editor that allows macros. The macro I run underlines the title, replaces WWW with dl, adds screenshot tags around urls and selects all and presses copy. Which is why my turn reports are all equally boring.
It works as scooter explains if I create a folder named public, and put the files there. However, as I suspected, that folder cannot be shared with anyone.
Modifying www to dl should not be that much of a chore though. Just use notepad+ or something to edit your posts, Yossarian, and you can just use the replace function to replace www.dropbox.com with dl.dropbox.com and you're all set to go. Editing long posts in an external editor is not a bad idea either.
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master. - Commissioner Pravin Lal, "U.N. Declaration of Rights"
I use a public folder so I don't know if this directly applies, but I only ever use "copy public link" once per game. After the first screenshot I will just look for the last picture I posted in the thread, right click -> Copy Image URL, paste it into the forum's image tags and edit the end of the filename, like this:

No time to sim, but if you test
- mining -> BW -> Fishing (2 workers)
- mining -> Fishing -> BW (worker-work boat-worker?)
- mining -> BW -> AH (2 workers)
- AH -> mining -> BW (2 workers)
To see which gets the second settler out quickest and has both cities working improved resources soonest that should cover it... That's not much help is it?
Ok, here are the results:
Old Harry Option 1:
Mining->BW->Fishing; Worker->Worker->Grow on Quechua->Settler at s2->Workboat (1 hammer away from completing with overflow, alternatively we could complete the partial Quechua and then manually build the wb)
Old Harry Option 2:
Mining->Fishing->BW; Worker->Worker for 3 turns until Fishing comes in->Workboat->Finish Worker->Settler
I felt that it was way inefficient not being able to go straight into the Workboat, so I tried Old Harry Option 2b:
Fishing->Mining->BW; Worker->Workboat->Worker->Settler
Old Harry Option 3:
Mining->BW->AH; Worker->Worker->Quechua while growing to size 2->Settler
Old Harry Option 4:
AH->Mining->BW; Worker->Quechua while growing to size 2 (to work sheep)->Worker->Settler
So options 2 and 4 are obviously worse. Options 1 and 3 are very similar. None of these allow for a Quechua garrison for city 2. Fortunately, this should be ok because the Quechua can come quickly after the Settler, and the planned location would not be at risk against barb animals. I think option 1 narrowly wins out because it can connect the fish the same turn city 2 settles as long as we can find that one missing hammer somewhere. The problem is that the two workers have nothing to do from this point on, except keep chopping. But I'm not sure what we'd want to chop out at that point. More workers / settlers, I suppose.
Compare that with what I had done earlier:
AH->Mining->BW; Worker->Quechua->Settler
This gets the settler out one turn later, and has one less Worker. However, BW is about to come in, so all the trees are still intact and the second Worker can be very quickly chopped or slaved out. I still kind of like this best, but what do the rest of you think?
Also, I must be really dumb, because I tried replacing https://www. with dl., but that did not show the images. Then I tried https://dl., and that at least showed that I was trying to put in an image, instead of just empty space, but you saw the name of the image instead of the image itself. So then I just went and put all the pictures in Imageshack and that worked no problem. At least Dropbox is working for the links to the saves.
Did you right click the file in the Dropbox folder on your computer, Yossarian, and then select the option called "Share dropbox link" to get the correct link? That's the correct link, and that's the one you should replace www in the link with dl. As far as I can tell that link already provides a https-link. It should look like this, after modification : https://dl.dropbox.com/s/r295qgewf3zbgnx...ot0668.JPG (the forum shortens the link - just right click it and select copy link and paste it somewhere and you'll see the full link)
Speaking of naming schemes.. We have agreed that our cities should be named for all the things I can be blamed for. I'm not sure what our capital should be, but at least we're pretty sure we need "Thunderstorms" to be one of the city names (since that's the number one reason for the games I host being down, especially at this time of the year). I suppose our capital could be something megalomaniac, like "Existence" or some such...
Anyways, lurkers! Feel free to come up with any suggestions for what I can be blamed for. Any suggestion is welcome, but we make no promises that we'll use every suggestion of course.
