Okay let's not risk that. Currently our GNP is way better than our opponents would expect, due to the failgold. Let's keep the pressure on.
I have to run.

I'll vote for the 88 failgold too, just from a risk management perspective. We know that works out pretty well, and are less sure about the alternatives.
Maybe HN could do a couple of foodhammer whips with maximum overflow into NE. We need a settler for the ivory/sugar city on ~T110, at least. Another worker wouldn't hurt, either.
If you know what I mean.

I roughly scketched a spear whip in the micro plan since we've already hammers invested in it. That doesn't bring many extra hammers though. Worker whip could be done too, but I think getting couple of mines up would be better. We don't want to accumulate too much whip anger and city being big when NE is finished would be bonus too.

Putting my vote in for prioritising Music rather than trying to be clever & having a higher risk on missing out on the Artist.

What do we do about the dotmap?
Presumably we want a city at B to catch the fish? If so, do we settle A now? Or do we want an inland city at C instead? In that case we'd have to settle B first, to hook the silk. Another theoretical option, which I doubt anyone will favor, is to settle D and E.
I think we should settle A now, to get a strong, cheap city that catches the silk, and leave B as a later filler. A will be at least as strong as the site we were planning, except that it gets started a little bit slower, waiting for a border pop to pick up the corn.
If you know what I mean.

A and B seem best. B is lower priority and can be postponed quite a while. A being coastal is also very good. We need to get something in the water soon. We should focus on settling high quality or otherwise important cities (resources, land grab) at this point.

Concerning Artist. 1 alternative is to settle the city in the center and culture bomb it. There is plenty of unclaimed land there. If this would be no diplo game that would probably be best use for it. However diplo on makes it a questionable move. That would annoy most of the other teams.

Thanks for the overview report, Pling. A comment on this:
"Bitter is going to stick at size 7 for a while, and build a Settler that will go off to found our Marble city (originally planned for the Ivory city that we're no longer going to build due to a change in deal with Gillette)."
You've misunderstood. The "Ivory city" in the micro plan is the ivory/sugar city in the northeast, and we will still settle that next (because we need the happies). That's why we wanted to renegotiate the settlement deal in the southwest, because we weren't really planning to settle there very soon, anyway.
If you know what I mean.

Oops. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll fix that

Concerning culture bomb. Here is map from the centre. Land is below average i.e. lake tiles and not that many resources. We could grab quite a lot of land, but I'm not sure we really want to be this annoying. We've long NAPs in place so we would be safe for a while though.
