Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Who shall lead us to Victory!!!

I haven't ended turn yet, but this is what it will be when I end the turn. I think this is what was discussed as optimal. Let me know ASAP if I need to change anything before I end my turn in the next 15 minutes or so. I'm on Gchat (HitAnyKey), so hit me up there or on here.

Hmmm, Ok since it seems we might need a little more discussion before I end my turn I'm just going to log out and get back to work. I won't be able to log back in again until tonight (6-7 hours from now).

I guess we need to figure out which plan to get SH/Oracle works best...going the route THH did or the route Jester did. Seems that with ether one we get SH on turn 16, but we need to know which route would get us Oracle faster. Also, need to know what other units we would have from those routes.

If anyone wants to discuss anything with me, please hit me up on Gchat. I can't access the forum while my computer is on the company network, so reading the forum from my phone is the only way, and that gets annoying to reply back on.

Sorry I've been quiet (no time to help I'm afraid) just to say take as much time as you need - no-one will rush you for the first turn. Also I'll take a look at the demo screens from the sandbox thread when I get home on Monday. I don't think anything important will happen before then...

HAK and I just gchatted and decided we'd both play/end our turns in about eight hours tonight. HAK's set up to do my plan currently, but would like confirmation about whether it'd be able to get Oracle by the same date as Jester's or not. If anyone is able to do any simming along those lines before then, by all means. I may or may not be able to figure something out on paper (no Civ access till tonight) by then. Unless anyone has any objections, I'm going to go worker first for my start.

Yep. What I did was worker->warrior->warrior(gift to Bismark)->2nd worker @ sz 2. I improved the gems tile first and switched cow to gems once mine comp. I worked the cow to grow to sz 2 the same turn the 2nd warrior completed and produced the 2nd worker working the cow+gems. The PF was chopped into the second worker and afterwards the worker improved the cow (reason gem mine worked...commerce to get BW->AH in time to improve cow).

No time tonight probably and not before tomorrow night most likely, but I think starting on a wb with Bismarck, working the 2/1/0 tile and starting a worker with Vicky seems the obvious moves anyhow. And BW first.

I don't see why you would not improve the wheat, especially if it is wet. Yes we kinda want the commerce, but by growing quicker to higher pop you should be able to make it back imo. And more importantly, having IMP and not having expanded at all till T32 is kinda... akward. I had in PBEM46 expanded to 4 cities and 5 workers with arguably worse land. Given I was EXP/IMP, but I also was just one civ. Wonders are nice and all and we most definitely should grab SH and hopefully Oracle. But I'd rather would lose Oracle and have 5+ cities than getting it and just being so far behind the growth curve that it isn't funny anymore.

I agree with Serdoa about expansion ... I think you meant 47 though Serdoa. What do people think about chopping a second worker out right away instead of improving anything?

Yeah, you are right of course, it was PBEM47.

As for improving vs. chopping: If the wheat is wet it is a 6 yield tile. Same for cow. Chops don't provide that yield. So if there is no reason to rush something, I would not do it (there are of course exceptions if you are India or have a massive amount of forests avaiable which both isn't true here). In this case, I believe growing to two and working those to get a quick settler by latest T20 (probably more around T18) would be better.

I'm pretty sure the cow is four food improved, and the wheat dry so five. But I take your point.

I don't have time to post the whole writeup but on paper I was able to get the Oracle out eot30 if whipped or 31 if not continuing from my previous plan. It's on paper, so there may be errors; I'll have to double-check. It requires Priesthood by eot26. Up a worker, down a granary compared to Jester's, the same size if you don't whip, and easier on the beakers (so more flexibility with Vicky's tiles -> more expansion). So it's doable in the same time-frame with both plans.

Cow is 4 food, 2 hammers = 6 yield. Wheat (if dry) is 4 food, 1 hammer = 5 yield. Thats how I use the term yield, maybe thats wrong though. Anyhow thats better than a chop.
