[Spoilers] Harry Hydra Tours his Hit Charitable Thoughts

Turn 131

We delayed revolting to caste to allow MSL to whip a second archer. Gavagai's chariot has been sitting here and making me nervous for the last few turns. The spear from NKtT will allow a worker to improve the iron. Eventually.

Demos and power. The switch to Caste gets us 4 extra hammers! Superdeath is running a very small army for the size of his empire...

Turn 133

Big news is that we got Parthenon and the Great Library and launched the golden age and now have a timetable for our great scientists. We have four cities pushing GP points at the moment. AG will pop a scientist or prophet eventually, perhaps to bulb chemistry or start golden age 2.

DttR will just tick over for now, the National Epic will eventually make it the centre of GP generation.

EM will pop a scientist eot136, then turn it's attention to boats and units.

FaL is due to pop eot139 (with starvation) or eot141. With a few wealth builds we should be able to get our tech targets (Machinery, Compass, Optics) in time for t141, but we need it to coincide with various unit builds (galleons everywhere, xbows and swords to crew them) so I'm not sure exactly when we'll bulb Astro just yet.

Small news is that Gavagai is being annoying. Why do you need two chariots to explore us? Eh? I expect the second one to turn around when he realises there's so little terrain to explore. And I hope the first one will stop moving to places from where he can snipe our workers.

Superdeath is working lots of unimproved tiles. While his golden age makes it look better than it should this still isn't cool man. And how come he hasn't hooked his iron? He's running Bureaucracy already, so perhaps it's down to a CS beeline which skipped IW? Or maybe just far too few workers to support the doubling of the size of his empire over the last 20 turns.

For lines-drawn-on-maps-fans here's a very poorly made initial attack plan. (Spoilered for size).

There was some genuine excitement this turn. We've been 2xp from getting a great general since the Donovan war, if we settle it in Constant Sorrow for 8xp units, grab HBR and build a stable then we can build a 10XP Heroic Epic unit and in the mean time build 5XP boats without vassalage or Theocracy. Alternatively we could just make a supermedic chariot and enable the HE immediately. The former sounds like the cool play, but the latter may ultimately be more useful...

Anyway we need 2XP. Spear vs chariot will net us that, so there are three candidates - Krill and Superjm have got a chariot each near Free at Last, Gav has those annoying chariots near My Sweet Lord. We're getting a bunch of trade income from Krill so I don't want to risk that. Gavagai is an unpredictable mess of neuroses of a player, so that's risky too. Sorry Superjm, we're going to hit your guy...

The war dec teleports the chariot where I expected and the spear does it's best to lose the fight, taking 4 hits. smoke

But we get our guy (Leonidas) and offer 30 gold in reparations. Hope that's alright with you Superjm?

Demos and power. Cairo's amazing income recently was due to a golden age that just ended with him switching to Monarchy/Vassalage/Slavery/OR.

Gavagai is spreading Hinduism for us! twirl

Golden age Moai? Check. There are 32 Hindu cities in the world now - guilds and banking can't come soon enough for our shrine...

Our scout uncovered some good news - if we can take his coastal cities Superdeath doesn't have many other mainland cities to respond from. The size of each city is in the red bubble. I've put a priority level for capture in the yellow bubbles, we'll see if the team agrees. The staging pentagons are all positioned to be out of sight even if SD gets optics.

Demos. We'll finish compass next turn and then we'll try to figure out our eta for Astronomy. And blood.

Just curious, but what program did you use to create that attack plan?

paint.net - lovely program. If you install it you can have a play with the layered version of the image: https://www.dropbox.com/s/smougv4rkonbct...k.pdn?dl=0

Lewwyn burnt a city of Donovan's last turn and his WW is up from 1 to 16 (6 for the city, then 3L/1W or 2L/4W).

We'll settle the highlighted tile in a couple of turns for a 2-clam city. It might be worth hitting Deep Thought before we go after Superdeath? Naa - it's a distraction. We'll come back here if we manage to get through SD.

We're taking this attack seriously. I want to whip units into whipped galleys the turn we get astro to get as many galleons out that turn as possible. Next turn we'll know when that turn will be (I can't be bothered to figure out how many beakers/how much cash Optics will take). If we have cash to spare after Optics do we head straight for Monarchy or use it on galley upgrades?

Likely unit mix: 9 galleons, 3 spears, 8 swords, 2 sentry chariots, 14 CKN. (+some more units for taking Damnation, which can be done with galleys or over land.

Cairo and Gav are pretty close together. Also is Gav reprising Lewger's naming scheme from PB13?

Demos and power. Krill will get HBR this turn. Superdeath revolted to HR last turn, meaning he's one tech from longbows...

Turn 138

Po' Lazarus.

Just filling space up now. This probably just works a few workshops and builds a few boats.

Lewwyn's War weariness went up by 128 and two GGs were born on his turn, but no cities fell. That's a *load* of units hurling themselves at the 60% defences of Earth (I want to say 40 units, but that seems way too high at this point in the game). So did he come up short or does he take the city this turn?

We're getting Optics eot139. We can get the second scientist eot139 by running 4 scientists this turn then 6 next and starving down a pop point. Then t140 we get 1800*2=3600 beakers into optics and probably finish Astro eot (we might not be able to as the golden age will have finished), then we switch to slavery, whip all our galleys and hope for the best.

Demos and power. Lewwyn's power is very high, but next turn's graph will be revealing - I'm expecting Donovan to dip below Superdeath and Lewwyn below us... Krill launched a golden age and his MFG stat is exactly as scary as you'd imagine. I believe he's only Machinery, Monarchy and Feudalism away from Guilds. What do we do about a knight horde from him? Just keep building CKNs. smoke
