Well that's a hell of a mountain chain...
Depending on how much land we all have the pig spot could be ours. Or not. Either way the mountain chain means it's not great for us strategically.

Have you had your free win yet? (Depending on difficulty?)

Unfortunately no, I'll have time tomorrow though. I'll be trying your option 2 and if nothing particularly good can come out of it I'll reluctantly try my hands at option 1.
Edit : Actually the turn rolled so I had to make a choice, and I didn't whip, mostly because I didn't want the cap to be running on 1 resource for too long. In other news the bear was super nice and ran away !
Scout can continue eastward I guess, and find everyone else. (I forgot to take a screenshot but there's a fish in the southern sea and a sheep 2SE).

Argh turns are moving too fast to leave me time to sim... Anyway things are pretty straightforward with a warrior build. Scout goes east (he encovered a forest/plain/river windmill, so 2/2/1 transformable into 2/1/2 by removing the forest).
Will we be the first to found on turn 27 ? No one has whipped yet so while it's possible that, like us, they didn't whip their settler, I think we're the first to get it out.

Well Grimace and Whosit are EXP as well, so they're the competition . While the first settler (and every turn gained at the start) is very important, once you get three or four cities up and interacting with each other, that's when the real micro skill shines - you can really optimise things if you're able to put the work into the simming. Once you get to turn 100 or so then it's macro decisions that will decide your fate, but if you get to t100 level or ahead of the competition that makes the decisions much more fun .
BTW - have you tried running Civ in windowed mode? It makes for smaller (visible on a normal monitor) screenshots and means you can switch to other programs easily to check things...

I wouldn't count out the imps, remember that we had a great settler eta with Genghis. I hope my crappy micro won't deprive me from the fun with the later macro decisions...
I generally avoid playing anything in windowed mode for aesthetic value but I can try.

Hey, anyone can get good at micro with enough effort, trouble is you have to value the later enough to put in the time earlier... Also you have to set up a good control regime - testing all the things that might help and having a way of valuing the outcome.
