lol

Knights are in range of the capital now. I left Impis to defend it, maybe they'll kill a knight.
Dick also captured back one of his island cities. I have a trireme defending the other.

What remains.

I got 45% to 65% odds attacking Gawdzak's injured stack with knights. Rolls were bad but I still killed 4 units so that's something.

Gawdzak captured Blight, though he did lose one more knight.

Let's hope they fight, that would be exciting.

Anything that I say that provides specific information would be spoilery. I do not know that it is possible to do more than you are currently doing and couldn't know that unless I logged in and played, which I won't/can't do. I brought this subject up based entirely on your stated preference for defending strongly against Gawdzak while Dick reaps the rewards.

I think the only way to make this fair is not to play an FFA. This is what diplo looks like in a no-diplo game, you're dealing with people and they will react to everything in their own peculiar ways. If you think what they are doing is unfair then you've probably missed something (see our trouble with Suttree for an epic example of Mackoti doing the diplo right and us doing it wrong) or you set up your borders badly, the map screwed you or you just aren't cut out for playing an FFA. For the last option a duel is the perfect solution.

I've only seen one example (I may not have looked hard enough) of someone just giving up and letting someone roll over them and I thought that player got exactly the appropriate amount of shit for it, but since then a bunch of accusations have flown around when it's just not the case and the accusers should know better.

Sorry, high horse dismounted.

Is that the island city you got in a peace deal from Catwalk? Looks like he got the last laugh after all! lol

Yeah.. Dick took back the other island city, but I have a trireme defending the remaining one.

2M might do me a favor and take it.. He had two galleys in range to drop troops last turn. Fingers crossed that it's what he did.

New meta: Whip the city so much that it's not worth the resources invested to capture it. I might outlive Sian and Nakor lol
Tried to pay back BaII's gold, but he declined. I think he forgot that he helped me, and is too honorable to accept a freebie from a dying man :D

Anyway, game over for me. I'm not happy at all about my play in this game. I was playing too many Civ games at once. I just phoned it in, from the very beginning to all the way to the end.

In retrospect what was the biggest contributing factor to not being one of the contenders to win this game?

And you've already outlived Sian. Slowcheetah (Donovan) and Nakor are the next you need to outlast, I think.

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

Not playing it lol You can't be a win contender if you just phone it in while others plan their brains out. I had too much on my table at once and this game happened to be the one to suffer the most from it. It's also hard to come back from that mentality because once you start falling behind everyone else, it's even harder to care about the game. You can see this happen in pretty much every game we play. I was playing in PB13, PB18, Civ5 PBEM and PBEM54 alongside this game, as well as regular forum mafia outside RB. That's a lot of daily stuff, way too much in fact. I wouldn't recommend more than two games at once smile

Anyway the parts I ended up having fun with were the wars, which also turned out to be the one area in which I played well, probably because I actually tried. I shouldn't have won against Yuris and I shouldn't have won against Catwalk, but I did, so I can be happy about that at least.

Whoops, mixed up Sian and SC. See how much attention I've paid? neenerneener
