Caledorn seems to be a quite conscientious guy, and quite aware that he's on two chairs being the game host and a member of team CFC. I doubt he will do anything with the timer without approval from r_rolo.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

Since the host is:
A: playing in the game
B: already adjusted the timer once before
getting him to lower the timer would probably be the best way to go.

Can we get in touch at all with r_rolo? Explaining the situation might prompt some action.

New diplo policy: On turns in which the German team does not hit enter, they do not get responses from us.

I also think we should keep pushing for a reduction of the turn timer. It's patently obvious that one team is being unreasonable here. Eight of the nine teams have been perfectly fine, one team is holding things up turn after turn after turn. They don't have the right to hold everyone else hostage. And their actions have furthermore been pure douchebaggery: logging into the game with three hours left, everyone else having ended turn, they play their own turn... then leave again without ending. And they never log in again, while the timer slowly bleeds out. That's happened over and over again. It's not an accident. They are deliberately trolling everyone else.
When we had a 48 hour timer, they would play their turns with one hour to go.
When we had a 44 hour timer, they would play their turns with one hour to go.
With the current 80 hour timer, they still play their turns with one hour to go.
If we change it to a 24/24 hour timer, they will play their turns with... one hour to go.
This is not an unreasonable demand. They refuse to end turn, under any circumstances, ever. Therefore the clock has to be shorter.

They are being unreasonable, but unfortunately they are also well within their rights .

After reading the posts from the German team members at CFC, here's what I think happens. They only have a handful of people. They do some things, then post what they did and wait for other people to chime in. If someone says something, then they may go and change something (tiles, whips, whatever). As such, whatever they do they just leave things hanging waiting for feedback forever which doesn't come most of the times. We are pretty screwed... if that's the case. I'd like to believe they are not just trolling.
Therefore, we should continue to push for shortening the timer as other people also said.

This does sound more likely than outright trolling.
Should we ask them, as good neighbours, to put a time limit on how long they wait for comments from their lurkers - so if they don't have comments within 12/18/24 hours of playing their turn they assume they won't get any and end turn. Given that they are usually ending the turn that should let them play the next straight away (unless they are fighting a war) and might reduce the clock to a day a turn?
Completed: RB Demogame - Gillette, PBEM46, Pitboss 13, Pitboss 18, Pitboss 30, Pitboss 31, Pitboss 38, Pitboss 42, Pitboss 46, Pitboss 52 (Pindicator's game), Pitboss 57

Even if they aren't trolling, their performance is simply not good enough. Period. Sullla pointed out their behavior and he's right: no matter how long they have to play the turn, they're going to play at the last minute. The turnplayer needs to learn to sandbox and get input from the team in advance.
I fully support a 12/12 turn split. I'd settle for 24/24 at this point. What happens if we declare against both WPC and the Germans? Do we go to a 48/48/48 split? Under this scenario, taken to include all teams that could possibly be at war (9), you could have 18 days per turn if the entire world is at war. Uh, no.
There is no reason for this to be an issue as it now stands. This is madness. Shorten the timer

Previously, a request to the game admin was made and the timer was reduced. I am thinking that if one more team agrees (so that we have majority) we should simply propose in thread above a reducing of the timer to 24 hours. I feel that this is not a ruleset change to require unanimity.
