[SPOILERS] Yossarian blames Caledorn

Played out a bunch of new test saves, and I think I found a winner:

Tech is Mining=>BW=>Fishing=>AH. We go into a second worker while the first farms, switch to a Quechua when the corn farm completes and grow in four turns, switch back to finish the second worker, both workers chop out the settler, revolt to slavery T29 and 1-pop whip the settler to complete on T30, finish a chop to finish the workboat the same turn fishing completes and the second city is settled.

Also played the turn:

Found another deer, this one without a forest. I'm not sure if we want to go NW-SW or S-SW with the scout next turn. What do you guys think?

I went ahead and committed to Mining. Didn't want to forget to select the tech and have it decided for us alright

The two Cultural teams, M&M and EggHeads, popped borders this turn. Rival Best land now has 15 land tiles, didn't bother to do the simple math to figure out the average land increase.

Couple random notes.

Cmon guys, if we continue to have 24 hour turns this early, the game will eventually die

7) Generally, no pauses and reloads, unless special circumstances

I don't think we should have paused for GG. Rules state pauses are only under special circumstances. Plako should let us know when we need to pause, otherwise we just let the clock run. This early, the worst that can happen is the scout is set back one turn. It definitely wouldn't be worth a reload if something like that happened because of a misclick. Anyways, I don't really care that much, and don't want to get on GG's bad side this early especially since they went ahead and played the turn shortly after the pause.

lol This is the "experienced" member of their team.

I think your settler should have 116/100 but otherwise that looks great!

The tundra tile between those deer looks like a decent city for later. Does it get the crabs too? Scout s,sw gets you a lot of visibility, and some flatland on the other side to keep moving quick.

Didn't barteq request the pause? That would be fine in my book, as long as he starts ending turn...

Awesome Old Harry, thanks for taking such a close look at the micro plan. You're right of course about the settler, I'll change that.

Turn 4:

S-SW revealed a dry corn and grass cow, not too shabby. We've got a nice spread of food, forests and hills, but we're lacking rivers for good commerce. I guess SW-S would be the best next move for our scout?

I forgot to grab the demo screenshot, I might jump back in to get that.

Edit: Here are the demos and Top 5 City. Care Bears have fallen from #1 to #3 city. My guess is those are the two Cre teams (M&M and EggHeads) overtaking them.

Oh wow, quick turn today. I actually had no idea we were last to play, so I was very surprised when I hit enter and the new turn started! So here are the T5 pictures (taken on T6)

The Ponies are first to research a tech. On T6, that must be either Fishing or Hunting, and I believe they must have worked a tile with one coin at least 4 turns to get it. Seeing as how they started on the coast, I'm guessing they researched Fishing.

Everyone has popped borders this turn. I'm a little upset I didn't grab the demo screenshot for T5 so I could better calculate who has how many land tiles, but that's fine. Rival Worst only has 13 land tiles in their BFC, meaning they have 8 water tiles. Seems like a lot to me. Rival best has 18 land tiles, that's probably Care Bears (who I'm assuming spent one turn to move off the coast, while the rest of us started on water).

Not sure what it means, but looks like Care Bears have reclaimed the top city spot. The only other thing to point out about the turn is that we revealed a FP with the scout, with several more in the fog to the south and west. So, time to scout some more.

I stopped here. Do we want to move south or west from here? I think I'm leaning west.

Cal and I chatted a bit so I went ahead and moved the scout

Turn 6 already
Any thoughts about our scout move?
Caledorn
I'd say south, but I saw you would like to move west. I'm fine with either, but would like to see a little bit more land near our capital - particularly around that long river - before we veer off
YossarianLives
Not a bad idea
To be honest, I was thinking to just keep sending the scout west to look for more teams
Caledorn
Yeah, I definitely agree with your idea. Both ideas seem good to me
YossarianLives
But since we're not getting that earlier warrior we had discussed, we probably do need the scout to unfog all that land around the cap
Caledorn
So it's basically a priority thing. Do we need more land scouted to see more potential city sites or do we want as early contact as possible
And yes, that is also a matter to take into consideration. Given our northern land we are certainly the northernmost team on the NS axis
So we will definitely meet someone to the south as well as to the west
YossarianLives
Yeah, good point.
Let's go south
I'll log in and do that right now

I think we want to go E-SE next turn?

Looks like soldiers went up enough that hunting is more likely. Unless someone built a warrior already?

E-SE sounds good, and a city on that desert tile would be great...

I'm really glad you're paying such close attention, thanks for pointing out the obvious Hunting research.

Turn 7

Moiraine continues to reveal some pretty decent land. I'm thinking S-SW next turn?

Team Orgy and Team EggHeads both finished techs this turn. And thanks to Old Harry, I'm actually paying attention to soldier points, so I know we went up 4k total this turn. I think they probably both finished off Hunting, though I guess it's possible Orgy finished The Wheel somehow and EggHeads researched something without any soldier points.

I'd agree with cal about exploring the site of your second city, so after you move s-sw how about circling east round the lake?

Could anyone have researched mining using extra commerce on a riverside food tile?
