Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[spoilers] - Pindicator makes America great again!

Not too concerned about demos - seems like a lot of people went up to sz3 first, probably because it would take them forever to get a settler at sz2 due to not being IMP. So you being near the bottom should be expected. I'd bet you'll be first to 3 cities and first to 9-10 pop empire-wide.

By the way, I'm pretty convinced at this stage that GLH will be uber just due to a total lack of cottageable land. GLH would justify spamming crappy coastal cities.

edit: Colossus too for that matter. Though that probably goes to the winner of Oracle.

Oh definitely. That's one problem we have with moving away from the coast, though, that we're at a bit of a disadvantage in building those wonders. I tried simming out going for GLH in our 2nd city and I think the fastest I can manage is t62, simply because our research sucks and the production of the rice/cow city isn't all that great.

New turn came in and somebody is revolting to Slavery - usually a good sign that someone just built a settler (or is about to whip one). Also Old Harry and TBS both got techs, but I can't really peg these down. It almost looks like TBS went for Archery but that doesn't seem right.

Turn 030

Guess who's back?

This bear keeps popping up more often than a bad horror movie villain. The good news is he's too late to stop my settler. Even if he moves straight for the city he won't get there before the settler can plant. I have fortified my warrior because if the bear is coming north next turn then we'll have better odds at winning against it the turn after: with 2 turns of fortification it will be 3.6 vs 3, which would give us odds to win somewhere in the high 60s I think. Not great, but against that bear I'm not sure I'm ever going to get great odds. So maybe we even retreat back next turn if the bear moves north.

And if we're going to retreat north then I might as well move my warrior east this turn, to give me the opportunity to sneak by the bear in case it moves straight north this turn. I'll do that now.

We also have revolted to slavery. This seemed the turn to do it: when we come out next turn we'll have a pastured Cow to work. I also started researching The Wheel. Need to give those workers something to do besides chopping trees and mining hills.

TBS planted his 2nd city this turn; it's coastal, as land only went up by 6 tiles. Edit: Not true, it could just be sharing tiles with the capital!

Edit2: And Commodore got his 2nd city up and running right as I wrote this, adding 3 tiles.

It's sad how often categories overlap.

I was going to name city #2 Clinton, but I'm not sure if that narrows things down much for you.
