Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

This is the layout of the land:

Icy Coastline
Khazad-Infernals-Amurites (world wrap to Khazad)
Desert
Elohim-Lanun-Hippus(world wrap to Elohim)
Icy Coastline

Amurites are ludicrously easy pickings. Khazad are the toughest foe by far, followed by the Hippus. I made deals with the Hippus for Manes, but was given a 40 turn forecast for them, so I don't have much loyalty there... Sending the Khazad in to fight them would be fine. We could go and eat the Amurites and Elohim while that is playing out.

So can you play the turns now? smile

Uh, again, I see you occasionally posting here- when do you anticipate being able to play the turns again? It's not like this game is an unbearable burden for me to play, especially with maybe two turns arriving a week, but it's not my game.

We should rename him Schoedinger.

I'll play it. Sorry for not keeping you properly in the loop, I really appreciate you helping out.

Okay cool, thanks. Not much happened really, after finishing off Mardoc I just built a couple workers and diseased corpses (and a temple of the Veil). Started a settler in Dis, I marked a few nice spots on the map with signs, and one of them is surrounded entirely by desert (so will be fairly safe for a while) and can work a gold. I recommend founding a few cities while you tech to Priesthood / other military techs. Size three cities are just big enough to either pay for themselves and make a little profit at the same time, or work a few mines and build reasonably fast Corpses (especially once you get the production boosts from military state and nationhood). If you can't eliminate everyone quickly, which is likely to be the case here, then actually building at least a small empire core is probably a good idea.

Priesthood should arrive in about 13 turns, IIRC. You could just build corpses until then in preparation for pairing with Ritualists of course, but they'll lack Mobility to keep up and won't have the exp to take it later on.

Well, with Sanctuary still in play quick elimination of rivals was never going to be all that quick.

You think size three cities are worth it? I've almost been discounting them as an idea. At least until markets are available.

Eh. They'll do for garrison duty. Mobility isn't that important when they can be teleported to the cities they are needed in.

It makes much more sense to me to found a city which can reasonably pay for itself (Three towns / specialists / etc. can easily pay maintenece for at least a ring around your capital), and then contribute a few extra beakers & hammers, than build a bunch of Diseased Corpses who can't even do anything for over a dozen turns except suck up gold. At least found the gold city, the thing pays for itself with one tile!

More cities also means more hell terrain, which is a bonus given the preponderance of desert & making bad land even worse for everyone else by getting rid of what few food resources exist. Plus they raise the AC a little.

If markets are the issue, you can have those in like five turns.

Oh finally, and more cities means more targets for the enemy- with only two right now, it's way too easy for your enemies to coordinate strikes on your tiny empire, and concentrate their forces.

Turn pace continues slow. Here is the update of the things that have happened since I retook the civilization.

I followed Bob's advice and built the two cities. He was right, they'll definitely pay for themselves. With a veil temple, elder council, market place and high yield tiles like Gold and Incense they're going to be decent even if perpetually left at size 3.

Dis is now size 10. Podagros is size 11. Dis has really good production and is working on Prophecy of Ragnarok to start cranking up the AC counter. Podagros is alternating diseased corpses and workers, building them in 1 or 2 turns.

The JKaen conquest was just ridiculously easy. Two cities, non bronze warriors backed by adepts and not even that many of them. I burned his second city and occupied his capital. No casualties. The capital is actually really quite useful, since it came with an Academy and a settled great scientist. Size 7, which isn't all that nice but I suppose will do.

JKaen, I've got no idea what you were doing in this game, but given the amount of slaves in your capital I would assume heavy barbarian attack. Better luck next game. Really try and push expansion more heavily next time though, even if you do get attacked by barbs, and even on a horrific map. 2 cities on T115 is a joke. Settling a Great Sage also seems like kind of a smoke move, although I'm sure I'll be getting some help from it!

Priesthood was just finished on this turn, so I can start on the first ritualists soon. Having non diseased diseased corpses will be very good, as will Ring of Fire. The next, and final, military improvement will be the Beasts and Eidolons. For the time being though, I'm going to grab writing(and hopefully the Great Library) and festivals.

Ichabod is really the only competition for this game. He's mildly ahead in demographics and clearly has a tech edge. He's locked into war with Sciz however.

I've sent Rosier out to find Marble so I can hook up some Sheut Stone weapons for my military. If the map is mirrored north to south, he shouldn't have a long search. It'll be somewhere in the ice to the north of Jkaens capital. Hooking it up after settling it will be harder.
