Finally got a new turn. Right now Scooter is killing everyone in food yield- he must have gotten both oasis sites on his side, although I wonder why his land area is so low? My food yield has had zero growth for about 15 turns now, but at least now I can make better use of it.
![]() Unfortunately Sian is rebuilding his army, so I don't dare focus on growth just yet. I two-popp whipped a horse archer in Venture Compound this turn while chopping another in the capital.
So I thought I should make it clear, I'm not ignoring copper units to try and show off or as a joke or anything like that- I just really think that horse archers are my best chance to defend this position.
The main problem is that I have a gigantic front to defend. With mounted units, I can just pile them all in one big stack in the center, and they're fast enough to respond wherever I need them. So instead of building 4 spears, I can just build one horse archer, and it's much more cost effective. Plus I can upgrade them to conquistadors later . The only potential problem is if I get attacked on both sides simultaneously, but with no diplo that's pretty unlikely.
By my count, you have 9-10 unworked flood plains and oasis tiles in your core. That is 30 food right there, plus a couple city tiles, that scooter may already be working.

Hmm, so you think maybe Scooter hasn't gotten the oasis sites yet? Or he might be splitting them with someone else. That would explain why they're all so close in land area.

I am just saying, if he is way above you in pop, which appears to be the case based on rival average, just by working more of the available tiles in the core, he could easily hit 94 food. He has probably settled at least one oasis, but probably not both, otherwise his land should be a lot of higher. Also remember that unless he planted on an oasis tile, he probably couldn't get cultural control of the opposite hill fast enough to shut out AT/Sian. My guess is, if you check out the other marble/stone areas, they will probably be split between two civs.

I'm pretty sure that you can't build cities on oasis tiles.

Yeah, not much going on right now, just growing my cities. I'll build a settler on my northern cities once they get to size 6.
