I've slacked on my lurking, but thanks for the points to read retep first thumbsup

I think I should have pushed harder about his start being so isolated though, Comm.

Man. Are we about to see a successful archer rush? popcorn

When does Azza get his own Sareln category in the record page?

I think Azza's problem is he's simply unlucky. If anything, he's even more reckless than before, and he still gets called out on it every single time.

I think of Sareln as a big dopey puppy who practically invites getting kicked.

Ehh, not in this case. That pink dot was an act of war. That's fine, of course, nothing intrinsically wrong with aggressive play, but follow through...don't build a giant middle finger five tiles from a rival's capital and then sit around farming.

Azza will continue to get rushed until he stops making idiotic forward city plants. I mean, just look at this:

That is begging to be attacked by someone. Honestly, the land isn't even that great once you get beyond the wheat and the (plains) cow tile. There is really no reason to settle there, and even if you do insist on making such of an aggressive play, it's better to settle a tile west on the hill. On the hill, with a couple of archers, and this is a safe move. Not on a hill, with warrior defenders, and you're asking to die.

By the way... archers don't attack very well even against warriors. It's three archers and one warrior attacking against three warriors. The odds are supposed to be about 30% for each warrior vs archer battle, and Azza will have to win 2 out of 3 to hold the city. My quick look at the odds suggests Azza has about a 25% chance to hold the city, which is not exactly good, but not zero either.

Well Azza is technically going for the horses so there is a reason at least. I think his initial plant was going to be 1S of that site though, which is nearly as bad, but once he saw the horses he moved it 1N, which is just suicide without archers.

Rushed or attacked and eliminated in:
PB5
PB7
PB8
PB9

I haven't read the PBEMs, has Azza been attacked and eliminated in those as well?

He tried a Keshik-rush in 46, to no obvious benefit...

Hence, reckless. You should be doubling down and committing to your aggressive play, not tool around with other stuff.

If anything, his first game (PB7) was a tad too cautious with the early archery, but even then that wasn't enough to handle multiple axes on ~T36. And instead, Azza took the opposite direction and played even more fast and loose, and has suffered it since.

Basically you're saying Seven and Mackoti are the root of Azza's mind warp and deteriorated play. The devils.
