[SPOILERS] Scooticator and Pindooter give a sporting try

I don't think we'll have another opportunity like this.  He's already distracted with one war, and it's a real war.  He's obviously showing strength with his frigate to try and scare us out of hitting him - trying to project strength because he isn't strong.  If he really wasn't worried about us hitting his shores, do you think he'd try to scare us with a single frigate?  I bet all those coastal cities are weakly defended, maybe 3 units at most.

The plan to hit his moai city is still good - we just need a distraction to get his frigate's eyes off of our invasion force.  War with Black Sword would be a good distraction, actually, as long as we let him see our invasion: hit the black sword islands that are between us and him so his frigate feels the need to keep around there instead of on the galleons that are going to be heading south through Azza's waters.

Maybe we delay launching a turn or two, but that depends on the specifics of the plan

Though maybe you should just play it how you want to play it.

Well sorry, I thought you said yesterday we need to abandon the plan, so I was playing and moving forward with that in mind.

The only thing I don't really agree with is the idea that he's seriously distracted and vulnerable with a real war. I really don't think OH poses any real threat to him in the slightest. All they've managed to take from him was a city that wasn't even mackoti's to begin with, and mack's power has rebounded quicker. By "window has closed" - I was referring to OH. Their chance to take real land off mack's hands is probably gone now, otherwise mackoti would be getting Rifles instead of messing around with naval techs.

Pretty sure steel is for cannons, just like he did with CFC

I bet you 500 internet points he's thinking Drydocks (whatever that means lol ). He's way, way more concerned about us than OH and rightfully so. We're the only ones at his tech level, and we have a built-in naval advantage, and that's really his only way to make up for it.

Anyway, that doesn't really affect our decisions for now. If you think you can figure out a way we can raze his city without it ending in disaster, I'm still in. I'm just not sure then what to actually do the next couple turns with those boats.

I think I should clarify my thinking a little better. I'm fine with the plan, but I think it's going to require some extreme precision to make it work. Currently we're kinda alternating playing every other turn without a specific plan, and that's not going to work for the next dozen turns. I'm a little stumped on figuring out how to slip two Galleons with 6 units on them down south through Azza/TBS waters and onto that tundra staging area without being spotted by mackoti. It's going to require that basically every move is calculated from next turn on.

So if we're going to do this, I'm more comfortable with you playing at least playing the naval portion of the turns. At least - it probably shouldn't be alternating back and forth like it has been, otherwise mistakes will happen. And we should probably have a chat/planning session of some sort so we're on the same page, because I don't think I really know what you're thinking.

Steel is for Old Harry, but Chemistry being the pre-req was what influenced him to go that route instead of Rifling, IMO.  Drydocks are just gravy, if he bothers to build them at all.

Rough plan (without looking at a save):

1.  Invade Black Sword, minus 2 ships & 6 zerkers.  Make sure mackoti sees us stage or at least sees our troops movements (minus those 2 ships & 6 zerkers) as we go to the attack.

2.  Sneak 2 ships and 6 zerkers south into Azza's waters.  Hug the mainland of his coast if we need to.

3.  Caravel needs to scout mackoti coming from the north.  Start with his islands and move inland.  Timing on this is probably important - see #4 & #5

4.  Start playing after mackoti in the turn order, if we weren't already.

5.  As the strike force approaches from the south, act like we're being sneaky up north.  Position our ships and units in a way that we could hit mackoti's island cities.  Again, particulars will have to wait for the turns we play, but the idea is that we want him to be suspicious of how we position stuff without making it look so apparent that we're attacking that he attacks us first.  This should happen 1-2 turns before mackoti

6.  Time the strike force to attack the turn that the caravel scopes defenses at the Moai city.  If defenses are too formidable then we can abort.

Does that sound doable or farfetched?

My other thought is just to say.'Fuck It' and invade Commodore, but that's probably my disconnect with this game talking

What would you do after you burn Mack's Moai?

Wikipedia Wrote:Many archaeologists suggest that "[the] statues were thus symbols of authority and power, both religious and political. But they were not only symbols. To the people who erected and used them, they were actual repositories of sacred spirit. Carved stone and wooden objects in ancient Polynesian religions, when properly fashioned and ritually prepared, were believed to be charged by a magical spiritual essence called mana." Archaeologists believe that the statues were a representation of the ancient Polynesian's ancestors. The moai statues face away from the ocean and towards the villages as if to watch over the people. The exception is the seven Ahu Akivi which face out to sea to help travelers find the island. There is a legend that says there were seven men who waited for their king to arrive.

Actually that reminds me, Civ4's statues are incorrect and face towards the water. lol
