Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

A min/max player runs the numbers to get optimal results. I do not propose whipping away Towns but I generally whip Courthouses pretty early on, right after a Forge and a Granary at this stage in the game.

Those screen shots are certainly cities I would whip Courthouses in nod. Reducing maintenance costs is like getting free pop.

Whip 'em good.

Those 3 are ok whip courthouse candidates. Our cottage cities should be spared from whipping though.

Well if you are whipping off cottages but can grow back to the happy cap quickly, the ~5 GPT you are saving is worth it pretty quickly. So I guess high food or shareable food cottage cities should also be whipped in a logical order.

Am I the only one a bit concerned about gunpowder in this screenie?

What are the mechanics for upgrading units in the queue? If we're set to finish a caravel and tech astronomy at the end of the same turn, will the caravel be completed or upgraded in queue to a galleon? (Do caravels even upgrade to galleons?)

What's our macro plan now that we have peace with TEAM and are about to enter a golden age?

We could tech easily to communism before the end of the golden age, revolting into state property, picking up the spy, and getting started on the Kremlin. Then, we could also pick up the physics scientist and start yet another golden age (provided we have a non-spy non-scientist GP on ice, which is fairly likely). Or if we're lucky, the communism spy coupled with the two GPs we'll pop during our GA will be enough.

Alternatively, we could go for rifling and military tradition and try to hit Gillette with cavalry on T200. Considering they are currently in a golden age I think their economy has in reality crashed pretty hard. But I have to say that the builder in me finds it tempting to go for communism/physics first, as a lower-variance route.

Barring any other input, I will tech Astronomy next turn, and then finish Gunpowder, while focusing on economic builds in most cities.
If you know what I mean.

I like communism. I Don't think caravels sutoupgrade to galleons since they can be upgraded to frigates iirc.

No auto upgrade to Galleons. I also like communism. We can also prepare for war at the same time via slow building lots of Knights. Upgrading them to cavalries is quite cost effective especially when we're getting gold from TEAM around T200.

We want 1 city in the central island as soon as possible before they totally seal it from all directions.

I set our research to Scientific Method. Other alternative is to tech Gumpowder+Chemistry before those. Might make a too long detour though.

Just FYI. I am civ-capable again and should be able to play the turn (which is back to us already). I'm too tired to do it right now, though.
