Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

The other way to look at it is: do we want to get a Scientist as our first Great Person ahead of the priest? If so, then I need a plan to research Writing, build a library, and hire two scientist specialists within 30 turns, and I also need to figure out which city deserves an academy.

Yeah I was about to say that "going for Judaism" and "bulbing Theology" are both researching the same questionable techs. lol

It appears we should have saved this theme for CiV

Yeah I thought about the scientist thing too, but I'm not too convinced that an Academy will be that great here. We don't exactly have an ideal Bureaucap with cottage-heavy land, and with the pro-expansion traits it will naturally lower the science slider. I normally dislike expansion traits + Academy, and with this land it's even worse than normal. I just don't think you'll get tons of value out of it.

John Oliver is awesome.

So I want to say that the monk wonders are definitely better than usual because per city bonuses are better relatively speaking when the map sucks, which it does. The AP is still fucking expensive though since it doesn't have a speed booster.

Oh hey, we agree. That's scary.

8) Monk Economy: This does not really care about being food/commerce poor - its bonuses are all per-city bonuses. This also goes nicely with IMP due to the per-city part. There's also 0 Spiritual opponents, so while you obviously don't need to be SPI to leverage religion, it does lower the incentive for people to compete for monk wonders a notch or two. This could potentially leave a lot of the monk targets a little more open than normal.
