Not dead! Just insanely busy. In a good way, but it means Civ has very much taken a backseat. Got a few minutes now, so I should update. I'm sure you guys are well aware of Lewwyn razing a city of mine by now unless you're one of the 3ish people reading only my thread. Anyway, like you've noticed by my absence around here, life is busy, and I'm rushing turns more and more often. However, that day was worse than usual. On Thursday, Lewwyn didn't play his turn until there was around 3 hours left on the clock, which was after I had left for work. At lunch time there was 1 hour left. I had two choices. I could squeak in a fast turn in under 20 minutes, or I could ask for a pause. I wasn't going to be home again until ... roughly 12:30am, so I could have a 12 hour pause and be playing the turn at 1am, or I could have an 18 hour pause. So I rushed the turn in 18 minutes, about 1/3rd of the time required to do even a decent play of the turn when you've got close to 50 cities and you're at war.
Anyway, that resulted in this:

Shrug. There was supposed to be more than one unit in there, and I would have easily caught that if I had more time - I saw his Knights, and there were only 2 of them. I even had a spy stationary on that jungle hill that could have easily pillaged the road and prevented it from happening. I did what I said I was going to do - I significantly scaled back the amount of time being spent on this game. That means mistakes like this one are going to be pretty common. I think I want to finish conquering Lewwyn, then maybe I'll see if someone is eager to take this over, because I think post Lewwyn conquest, this position will still be pretty winnable. Just a matter of someone having the time/interest to make it happen, which definitely is not me.
Cyneheard - what's your interest level on potentially taking this over? Not right now, but I mean gradually working your way into this. I'm fine to keep playing turns, but mistakes will be frequent. I feel like I have a really good grasp on what needs to be done from here, but I definitely lack the time to do it. I'm actually enjoying turns to some extent, but it's a shame that such a strong position may go to waste just because I'm reduced to playing for fun rather than for any shot at winning.
The "best" part was that he razed that city with the first Knight at 20% odds. That meant the second Knight (there were only two) was able to kill two off my great generals that were sitting by themselves behind the city. That's almost as bad as losing the city really.
That aside, I did refound Timbers.

More importantly, mackoti is prepping to invade Azza.

If Mackoti manages to get that Confucian shrine that Lewwyn gifted to Azza, I WILL quit the game immediately
. Anyway, if I was committing the kind of time he is, I'm not so sure this would work out for mackoti. He emptied out his islands to make this happen. When 10T peace runs out, I could theoretically run over his islands with ease. Realistically, that's not happening for Lewwyn reasons and for my time reasons. If he actually invades the mainland (I think he might), I definitely won't be OK with him keeping any of those. We'll see. Finally got to see the full magnitude of killing the big stack.

That was fun. Lewwyn has just nothing left at all. This turn I finally had everything ready to go, so I began my march.

Lewwyn upgraded all his CKNs into Rifles, so that seems to imply he won't even try to attack my stack (probably wise), he's just gonna hole up and wait. Really hoping for one big fight here, but we'll see, good chance he runs away.

These guys couldn't make it to the main stack in time, but they'll probably have no trouble capturing that city. All except 1 of those units are amphibious, so attacking across the river has no penalty.
Railroad in next turn. I'm basically just following Mackoti to Destroyers, getting a nice draft bonus by grabbing the techs after him. Fun times!
Mackoti also completed Sistine Chapel. Given the insane tech costs (space race is still light years away) and lack of a clear dominant force in this game, cultural victory might just be the best way to win weirdly enough.
