[Spoilers] Amelia, Tempest of the Seas

That's fine with me. Bad internet is something that happens. *shrug* I will be looking forward to the update, though.

TIME FOR UPDATE!

Firstly, i'll be using photobucket for this, given that other sites well, ban Malaysia. Hopefully it's viewable.

Let's just start with the event of the day:

No, that's my copper you bitch spider. And also that goblin who decided to sidestep my warrior. Although actually i should have just spawned the spider, since the mine was in my area. I doubt it would have attacked me. Oh well.

So let's look through domestic matters first. Firstly, a city overview!

My glorious Capital, Radiata City

The deer needs 2 more turns to complete, i have a worker on it right now. Heron Throne seems more worth it compared to a Lighthouse, as well, i need more hammers, yeah?
Quote: pocketbeetle: When finding coastal cities, emphasize production.
Once Heron Throne is done....

I think i might need more Military. Just a hunch. Maybe a settler to boot.
Also, i'm out of God King now. Forgot to take a civics screen, but just to inform i've changed to Agriscrocrasty. It's for something special i'm building.

The Sidekick, Cerulean City

Although at this rate, it's more of the capital, heh. I got some ale from the Elves in return for my only pigs, but that's ok, my 6th city will grab them. After the EC, i'll probably head for a zealot for my new city.

What's that, new city? Yeah, wait for it =)

A lackey known as Fishing Parch

If you guys remembered this town, it was nothing special. Indeed, it's still nothing special. Once it grows i'll put it on a merchant.

Since it's not going to build any unit, ever, once it finishes the asylum (for another sage!) i'll have to think of what else. Maybe a Temple for ANOTHER SAGE!

Defensive border 1 : East Checkpoint

I confess, this is a superb defensive point. It also has my only copper though. There's one more i can reach happily, but i'll need scorch for it to be of any use.

After lighthouse, i'll churn out another worker, followed by TGL. 3 coastal cities, and one more coming up, will give me enough incentive for it. It can work 2 coves, 2 hills and 2 lumbermills (Stealing one from Cerulean) for good production.

Some Landlubber Pirates who called their city Bracada Desert

Let's count. 1,2,3,4... 5 flood plains. + riverside Incense (cough cough where's my last FP). Plus some grass. This is the reason for the Agris city.... once it reaches size 6 (which it'll do, easy), this will be my main commerce centre. Also has 4 hills for production. And 2 lumbermills.

Ilios wanted his city 1N of this, i said no. It'll take away 1 FP permanently, and waste another one. NO NO NO. (Actually, i didn't say no to him. I just settled it first.(

Also i need a spring adept for that Incense.

So that's it for my cities. What next? Let's see...

Potential city sites seem to be written on my list.

Pig Hoggers!

Sure, it has 0 production. Sure, it settles on a pig (But that's the only way to get the fish, so break even i say!). But there's 3 coves. There's 2 more food tiles.
Of course, this still won't be anything special, but it's a city nevertheless. Just... a bit hard to defend. Will need transport or drowns.

Ice Pirates Yohohoho a bottle of ice for me!

Now i do have to check whether i can build work boats there... Sure it's sea (yes there's a single tile in there that's sea), but there's no resources. Of course, if i can, it's another two cove city!

Oh and if the Calabrim attack, they can take the city i guess.

(Shows how desperate i am for city space)

So what's next? What's this?

Yeah, tricked you into opening it expecting something good. It's just my civics.
Next!

And to the heart of the matter, what everyone has been waiting for...

It's Pinky and the Parrot, it's Pinky and the Parrot!

It's mutated Pinky and the Parrot, actually. Oh, and we Lanun don't use hawks. We are pirates, we use parrots! ARRRRR (I tried arrrr but it just didn't have that kick)

My attack force. Of course, the main guy (demon?) is that Str 10 Malystryx (A red dragon who terrorized desert people, get the reference?)

Who are we fighting?

A poor Mr.Foot, guarding Horus.
Jeranimo to his death, at En-Kai.

Easy kills? I'm taking both cities, if i can. Hopefully Serdoa keeps his main army in check... because...

Leaves and Tigers =( Those are strong.

And his main army. Cough cough cough. Go go Serdoa, go crazy clowns, we Pirates will be here cheering you on!

So, i guess that's it for my update. Also note that i have not officially declared war on Ilios, if anything happens i might still turn tail and run for it. Shhhh

Also, i have open borders with Elves. I wanted open borders with the Clowns, but we discovered that neither of us knew how to define borders (no cartography). So i asked the vampires instead, promising them a lot of humans in return (We grow too fast).

And yes, i found the Clowns. We actually had contact, take a look

Most boats that try to go their way get destroyed by Griffons, but a few do make it. Most of the times we send like 15 boats to be sure something gets through.

Dwarves have passed out of sight, but surprisingly we still could trade resources. Must be closer then i thought.

Also finally... the highlight:

There goes my Sun Mana =( No really, neutral Tundramen? NEUTRAL?
Oh my funguy.

Should definitely be able to build work boats on that ice city, it's even coastal since that's saltwater. But it doesn't look like you can get a second cove, because of the cove in the neighboring sea is too close (1W of the goblin fort).

Also, can you build work boats in Fishing Parch?

Fishing Parch = No. No sea stuff allowed at all, most probably because it's a lake not a coast.

Yay, an update!

A few points:

* No, you cannot build fishing boats in the planned city since the adjacent body of water doesn't have a seafood resource in it. You can get one there however by building a canal fort either 1S, 1E, or on the goblin fort. Any of those locations is a good spot for defensive bulwarks anyway.

* Why aristocracy? I thought you were going to build cottages and workshops on the land, instead of farms. If you want to really produce troops later in quantity I suggest revolting your government to either city states or godking again, and adopting Conquest. Infra will still take forever to build, but you seem to be getting a reasonable amount of that in right now. Slavery or Military State will greatly assist as well (whipping / cash rushing + troop production bonus)

* Good luck vs. Ilios- that Stonewarden + lots of crap stack is pretty nasty, and he's all but certain to throw it into Horus if you get too close. Between those units and the PoL you'll have about no chance to take the city, and can probably be wiped out in the field. En Kai is a much better first target, although depending on what he does ibt he can still reinforce it before your (presumably) mobility-promoted stack will arrive (obviously move 2NW next turn to commence hostilities). Also, weren't the vampires and elves going to send some units or something? Do you still have an NAP with them? Be on the watch for a Calabim backstab.

* "No, that's my copper you bitch spider." may be the best sentence ever written on this website =)

Aristocracy is due to my 5th city coming out, which will have 6-7 farms. If anything i'll switch from Agriculture to Conquest for production, but i'll probably keep Aris. (since i'm financial all farms are 3G anyway). God King... i guess i won't need it anymore? Once i get sanitation i can easily play Aristo + Conquest, and still have too much food to bear.

That stonewarden stack is currently engaged in a battle with Serdoa and Darrell. I'm hoping that they can keep them busy.

There's no such thing as canal forts in FFH, sadly, if i remember correctly.

Hmm, regarding the forts / city issue you're probably best off then founding 1E of the goblin fort. You'll give up a few lake tiles, but honestly who cares. Getting a lake cove (using the city as a canal) and some nice productiony hills & a horse will more than make up for the loss. You can build a fort on the ice where you currently have a city sign for the city defense boost =)

With the spider thing can't you just leave the spider there and as long as you don't have a scout in the area still work the tile. Hawks may be scouts for spider purposes.

Bob: But if that's the case is that even worth the city slot? Darrell has his borders N NE of that spot, and if i put a city there he might get angry. He might think of those horses as his horses after all.

Fire&Ice: I realized too late that it was in my borders, and thus i could have just spawned the spider. Would have made a perfect defender against the vampires as well (Goblins and spiders and bears and lions and a skeleton are attacking you? Oh gosh sorry but those are defending my land for me).

A nice little rush army! Good luck in your assault. Saverous is especially looking strong with the Axe AND the Great Commander! Are you still planning to keep the cities once you take them or have things changed since your initial planning?

I've not kept up to date on this so what was the reasoning behind researching Drama? Has someone not snagged the free Artist yet?
