[SPOILERS]The Tyrant realizes that once the world burns it gets really boring....

What does a settled prophet make? 5gpt? Considering your 0% is 13gpt that might be a nice shot in the arm short term. Yes Theology probably would be getting more beakers, but you could use the better tech rate to research something else (not that religions aren't useful, but it's something to consider smile). What does would a Prophet target for bulb before you tech Writing?

Wait'll you see the PB8 lurker thread... mischief Wait, which makes me wonder, what did I ever do (that you know of so far...) to get that name? Or is it just bickering with Xenu? There's probably stuff in my 49 thread, but you haven't seen that either.

Anyway, you're probably going to lose your unit to an axe of all things next turn. We'll get you back in soon.

Axe rush the salesman, he'll get you in and out of the dealership quickly.

I'm angry enough for both of us. Isn't that enough?

Here's the Prophet bulb list and in parenthesis how much is needed to tech:
Great Prophet:

Meditation (128)
Polytheism (161 - 17 already invested: 144)
Priesthood (96)
Monotheism (193)
Theology (805) [REQUIRES WRITING]
Divine Right
Mysticism
Masonry (Warlords patch & BTS)
Code of Laws (562) [REQUIRES WRITING]
Civil Service (1288)
Monarchy (483)

---

Literature
Music
Writing
Philosophy
Printing Press
Drama
Aesthetics (BTS)
Alphabet
Paper
Education
Liberalism
Calendar
Masonry (Vanilla & unpatched Warlords)
Animal Husbandry
Construction
Future Tech

Add 193 more for Writing (I'm ignoring arrow modifiers to keep the math simple. Xenu can add discounts if he wants) and the grand total is 754b needed to get to Theology. This is assuming that we skip Math, Iron Working, etc. For comparison, we've teched a grand total of 1091 beakers so far for the techs shown above (not included are the techs that we began with, Mysticism and The Wheel). I've included the 17b we have invested in Polytheism.

So, what are your thoughts, Xenu/Brick? This is a lot of investment of our meager tech rate. What else would we want to be teching? Obviously we want Writing now, and Math (401) after is always a good thing on the way to Currency (644). I would say our chances of getting the religion at CoL (562) is less than zero, given that that is the main road to Civil Service and that so many other teams have a better GNP than us. I would even say that Sisu, who already has a religion, will beat us to CoL with all those riverside financial cottages, even if he diverts here or there for another tech. But, I think we can be the first ones to Theology, as I don't see anyone else teching all the religious techs + Monarchy and then Theology. Sisu will want to use his prophet from the Oracle on a shrine almost certainly.

Here is one version of a possible future: We chase Theology, grab HBR, and then build stables and swap to Theocracy for 7xp Horse Archers (we need Archery too, but it's cheap, only 96b). Then we take out Sisu before all those cottages pull him far ahead of us. We only have to win one fight per unit to get up to a third promotion, so a quick promotion to heal to continue the assault. This is a bit extreme, but I think our tech position is simply bad by comparison, and Sisu will be a problem at some future point if we don't bring him down to our level.

The other factor to consider is our Pyramids build. I'm not above running Police State to get our army out. If we end up failing on our bid for Mids, we should at least get a little fail gold to fund our tech rate. Once we build up a couple of libraries, our tech situation wouldn't be so bad, burning through that cash. Anyway, this is just something to think about while we wait out the delay.

If you're planning to invade sisu do you even need to found a religion? hammer is another method for claiming religions smug

Also I won't be able to sub for you this time. I'm traveling myself and it'll be as much as I can do just keeping up with PB9.

Possibly not, but just counting on my fingers, HAs with combat 1/melee would be 8.25 vs. spears 4 + 100% +25%fortification +city culture (40-60%), so 10.6-11.4, and worse if walls are present or the city is on a hill. I'm not in game ATM, but I'm pretty sure that Sisu's holy city is on a hill as well as having 60% borders, so that will be rough going. And, HAs are more expensive than spears (50 to 35). The third promotion on the HA wouldn't be decisive at all in these circumstances, though it would help some. It isn't enough of a difference to justify all the extra beakers just to get Theocracy by itself.

Against this, having Theocracy available would allow us to get to double promos on melee units, and axes will do well enough if we throw enough at him. I do not think this idea is a terribly profitable one, but it will prevent us from hopefully being technologically overwhelmed in the not so distant future. Also, I'm trying to get some ideas from teammates who seem to have done a vanishing act lately. :P

Enjoy your travels. We've been on ice for several days now. If the game is on hold another day or so, no one will die of boredom hopefully.

False.

Attacking, HA with C1/shock vs. spears fortified +(40-60%) is 6.6 vs 9.6-10.4, shock is subtracted from the spear's bonuses.
