I think DOW and peace is a good idea, but I'm also pretty sure he won't take it, but rather will see it as a sign of weakness.

Actually, the best unit now is Skirmisher, preferably with Shock. The thing is, defensive bonus against swords works outside of cities also which makes Skirms ideal for covering stuff.

Also, top power increased only by 1000 which seems to be a good sign. If Barteq expected conflict, he would build units.

Barteq logged in and eliminated Grimace.

War with Barteq is immenent. If he truly wants to attack Apatite, I say it's good. Apatite will have 3 Axes (one of them shock), 2 chariots (one of them shock) and a spear next turn. I simmed and it appears that he won't be able to break through this defence attacking across the river. My idea is to wait until he crosses the river than retreat to Kola. Kola will be out of revolt in two turns and then I would be able to do just what I expected Grimace to do: whip out a skirmisher per turn. While we are stalling I will build an army of HAs, whipe out his army and take back Apatite.
Construction106 is a bigger concern. In contrast to Apatite, we can't really afford to lose it. Currently my skirmisher and Barteq's W2 Jaguar share the hill 2NW from it. The city is defended by a C1 Axe. Barteq can attack this turn with bad chances or reposition his jag and attack next turn with almost a coinflip chance. Turn after next the Skirm would reach the city and it will become safe - unless he has more Jags coming from the north, of course.
Also, Barteq added 22000 power, so he is serious about this war.

Barteq can have Jags hidden on a tile 1N from the Chariot and, additionally, workers ready to road the tile under his stack. If so I may be screwed but I don't really expect it to be the case. The guy had no more than a couple turns to set this up.

How is the AT-Molach war going? I'm a bit surprised by Barteq's desire to invest heavily into a second front.
Accidentally clicked on Serdoas thread when trying to come in here, didn't see anything.

We should assume that Barteq is now at peace with AT, I think.

Also, I think that what Barteq is doing is the right call. He can't allow a double-sized monster to emerge at the doorstep of his capital, period. Whatever is happening between him and AT, it can't be more important than that.
