I'll do it once I start posting serious stuff, for now I need to up the view and post count!!! (I mean Vanrober and Amica will easily win, but 2nd right?).

BTW Superdeath up the title, you are getting lazy in your old age (if you age by # of pitbosses played).

"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. Regarding size; I get that none of you want a cramped map like PB56 but something closer to PB58. The thing is, the main difference is not the number of tiles, but how they are spread out. So far I've been going on about 100 tiles per player, but with decent distance and "safe lands". I'll take your current votes to mean "continue doing this, but don't worry if the number of tiles slips upwards some."

I also was somewhat surprised by the number of 'big' votes considering. Your interpretation is probably correct and can definitely slip upwards a bit it looks like. Maybe 120?, which at the very least would qualify as medium and be a compromise between Amica's numbers and mine.

Speaking of GKC needs to vote!!! SO GET AT IT. Could obviously influence. YA whip

Just threw a monkey wrench into it, we're split on difficulty and ww.

No barbs = probably want a bit higher difficulty and keep WW.

Regarding difficulty. I would advise to leave that decision to Tarkeel. As the mapmaker he can better judge if Monarch or Emperor is more appropriate.

I said earlier that the concept I'm working on is based on PB58, which as far as I can tell has been liked by all the players. In the interest of fairness I'm reposting some of my praise for the map from my spoiler thread; there aren't anything here that will be a spoiler for the current state of the game. I'm not saying that all of these will be part of this map though!

  • The main contact points against neighbors were long, slender landbridges with jungle, making for stable early borders
  • Having a large backline against the centre-spine to expand into, making early wars less profitable
  • Meeting along the spine opened up more contacts, but there are still relatively few east-west passages
  • Everyone had easy early access to copper, the main defensive resource, while ivory was early and secure
  • Iron and horses, the offensive resources, were only available later on, limiting early rushes

If anyone has any special requests for the map, now is the time to make them. So far I have the feeling that everyone wants a game that won't be dominated by ancient era wars, while not becoming too large. I also get the feeling that none of you particularly want "cute stuff" like pre-placed barbarians or improvements.

I'm not really comfortable selecting the difficulty, but with barbs off I'd lean into Emperor if forced to select. Don't forget that colosseums in CtH reduces WW, and I did propose to lower the costs of jails, which should make it more manageable but still a factor.
