Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Clash of the Titans: Trash Talking Thread

I have confirmation with a new map that the spoiler thread is spoiler free for our game. I will ask T-Hawk to re-org a bit.

I got Mysticism from a hut myself. cry

But yeah, I vote for no huts OR no huts near starts.

Mardoc Wrote:are you sure you want no lairs, too? It changes the barbarian mix a lot. Suppose we just ask for them to be garrisoned from T0, so that they can't be popped until later in the game?

I think this is a cool idea. For forts, barrows, etc, just put the appropriate unit there and give it the captive promo or set the AI to stationary or whatever. For dungeons, I vote to just remove any that spawn near the starts.

Mardoc Wrote:As for events, I think it breaks some pieces of the game if you turn them off entirely.

I believe this is correct; IIRC Adaptive, for example, uses event scripting for selecting new traits.

I don't have much preference as to map specifics, although I would prefer a more natural-looking asymmetric map (although with starts and land distributions roughly balanced obviously). Maybe Highlands. :D

Also, I think Octopus Overlords should be bannable at the map maker's discretion, although if possible I would like for the Lanun to still be in.

Also, I favor the No Acheron option (pre-placing him is fine) and no Mercurians (I don't care about Infernals).

FFH cannot be played with no events, it doesn't just break some parts. It's going to be broken.

So I suppose the question becomes, is it less imbalancing to have some events or lots of events? I've seen it argued that if you turn Living World on, things tend to even out.

Okay how about this...any events or lair results that lead to a Great Person in the first 50 turns of the game require the recipient to automatically disband said Great Person. It is just way too unbalancing.

Is there a way for me to ban only the mercurians (not the infernals)? I think there isn't, so that would have to be done as a agreement between the players.

Do you want to keep the same picks or do you prefer to repick after seeing the starting positions, for example?

I'm good with my pick.

If you decide to go with this option, I wrote a program that will add a held Hill Giant to all lairs in a worldbuilder file. Let me know if you're interested, Ichabod.

Pretty sure you're right on the Mercurians.

I'd prefer to have the option of repicking, with the caveat that anyone who wants to keep his current civ gets dibs.

Huts off. Living world and lairs on. More player friendly map, script at Ichabod's discretion. I don't care about the Mercurians one way or the other.

Rename this game to PBEM16, we could use new threads anyway (since mine is mostly complaining about the map)
