[PB27-SPOILERS] Yup, it's HAK here...no idea what I might do this time...

Ok, at least the tech and build times and stuff like that are accurate. That's the biggest thing.
But yeah, it'd be nice to be able to expand my SIM at least a little bit more than just the distance to a second city. Though I guess that's not really a huge deal, since most people (myself included) probably won't/can't continue SIMs past the first couple cities.
If it's easy enough, I suppose I could increase the number of tiles in my sandbox myself....if someone could explain to me how to do it. But if Joey would be willing to do it for me, that would also be great. I'd just have to rebuild the terrain I've already put into this one. Is there a way to change things in the game I currently am running my SIM on anyway?

I have to say, it was kind of humorous when one of the AI go the circumnav done by like turn 20 or whatever it was. LOL

You can open the WB file in notepad and search for "BeginMap" I guess you need to edit grid width, grid height, num plots written and then a bit further down create plots for all the new land you've created.

HI HAK, I can definitely increase the size of your sandbox. I guess there was no real reason to make it 15x15; I guess I was just thinking "its just a sandbox, so no reason to make it really big." lol Well, I assume you've updated yours a bit based on how you've explored with your scout, so if you post the updated one I'd be happy to make it bigger for you.

Here is the WB save from my T8 sandbox. I had to Zip it, since RB won't let me attach the save on its own.
Thanks for doing this! You rock! wink

WB Saves can't store intermediate city food/production so I just reset you back to T0. Is this big enough?

Met my first neighbor....and it's Tsargon. I do hope Tasunke does not come back to play it, as I do not need him as a crazy neighbor again.

Could a lurker maybe mention in his thread about updating his name to take Tasunke's name out of it? It's unnecessary, and IMHO it kinda bugs me constantly seeing "Tasanuke (Tsargon)" on civstats...and now I'll see it nonstop with him as my neighbor. It's bad enough I have to keep seeing Tasunke's name....I have to keep seeing it misspelled. tongue

And it's kinda funny. I was just getting ready to comment to GJ that I'm already loving this map. Looks like it's going to be fun. And I was only going to complain that I hate the map when I discovered that I was surrounded by Gavagai, Commodore, Krill, Plako, & dtay on all sides....but seeing Tsargon as one of my neighbors relieves that worry slightly.... smile
Those 5 are my biggest worries in the game. I'm sure some of the others are (or can be) just as good, but these are the enemies I know....so right now, I'm happier to have next to me the enemies I don't know all that well.
And we do seem to be about 15 tiles apart. So my guess is that I have someone about 15 tiles to my south and another about 15 tiles to my east. Maybe. Currently trying to decide which way to send that scout....either around the northern edge of his borders to keep exploring north, or around the southern edges to then clear all that fog between us. Right now I'm leaning towards the south and then clearing all the fog leading down to my C1 site.
The other scout will be making his way east-southeast at some point. And the warrior will head SE for a few turns. As you can see he's already found me another Pig. I'm going to have quite the Oinky nation, it seems.

The main map portion for expanding my terrain is big enough, but the actual map is loading as size Standard and not as Huge. I tried editing the WB file in Notepad to change the world size to WORLDSIZE_HUGE from WORLDSIZE_STANDARD, but that didn't change it when I loaded the WB file in the game. So how do I actually get the game to load it as Huge? What step am I missing?

EDIT: Disregard. Got it working. I exited Civ and then tried again, and it worked. So maybe it just had the old size cached or something odd like that.

So in playing with the SIM yesterday I may have gotten my Oracle path shortened slightly, but will play with it again later in the week to confirm and make more detailed notes so that I don't screw it up. Everything up until T12 has pretty much been locked in stone and I only have the options of changing things slightly from that point on to maximize whatever I'm trying to do. But we'll see how things go when I do the sim again.

Mardoc just pointed out that city distance maintenance will be different (higher?) on a smaller map. Hopefully that isn't too big a factor in your sims.

What are you going to Oracle?

The city distance stuff won't matter for what I've sim'd, since they pretty are all for pre-first city. Plan is to Oracle MC. I finish Fishing this turn and start on BW next turn while building my first worker. That first worker will mine that GH to the south just to use up some activity while waiting for BW to finish. And this while I'm building the 2nd worker. BW will finish, and the following turn W1 will move to his first chopping spot. Priesthood will finish next, with W2 being built who will move to other chopping locations. W1 & W2 will chop different forests in tandem, with them all going into Oracle while I research Wheel & Pottery. Current sim has Pottery & Oracle both finishing on the same turn, allowing the MC grab. If I did my sims correctly, this could happen as early as T36. But we'll have to test it more later.

In the meantime...

My warrior has run into a little fuzzy friend. Hopefully the bear attacks me while I'm on this forested hill, allowing for a hopeful easy killing of it.
And a nice Fresh water Corn there....so somewhere over there will be a good city spot, maybe one that has both the Corn & Pigs.
Down further south, that's a bunch more coastline. So is it possible I don't have anyone directly south of me on this landmass? That would be pretty cool. My original scout will at some point find out for me who my eastern neighbor is.

Also noticed this turn that a new forest has grown 2NW of my capital, right in the path I had planned for my first settler (which the worker WAS going to be able to road before the settler finished. But now that there is a forest there, that will likely delay that city by a turn or two. frown

I didn't take screenshots of the scouting, but not a whole lot new uncovered. Will probably take a photo when they find something interesting or open up a bit more land.
