He's casually 1 Civ away from winning the game at this point so its not exactly surprising.

@kjn Rome is not op because Sulla steamrolled everyone. It is op because of the numbers. Look how powerful the legions are compared to the opposition. The full healthy city of Mainz had a strengh of 41 and that with walls, district, enhanced defense and a garrisoned unit. The attacking damaged Legion had a strengh of 43. Had the Legion been undamaged it would have been 49. There is no chance against it.

Don't forget the legion is hauling a battering ram around.

City walls will be smashed to pieces by a party of attackers with a battering ram in tow. Basic Civ 6 warfare 1.0
Basic legion strength is 40, a swordsman has 35. However, the legion strength is enhanced by other factors. It just shows that you really need to keep up with military to avoid this sort of walkover.

The enhancement are Oligarchy (+4) which is easy to get as Rome and +5 by the great General.
To stop Rome you have to reach Oligarchy, need to prevent Rome from getting a GG and have Iron connected and then it is still a uphill battle as the Legion has still a 5 point advantage to your Swordsman.
Sullla has shown how to play Rome efficiently.

Horseman also has strength 35 and costs much less, especially after accounting for Maneuver. It ignores ZOC and has 4 move, which let's you come up, smash, and step back, allowing the next horseman to do the same.
Rome has no particular advantage in getting a general early, only earlier access to governments and Strategos, but that's a pretty small advantage compared to Greece, Japan and perhaps even Aztecs.

Ignoring ZoC does not equal Can move after attacking.

Oh yeah, that requires a promotion now. Why would cavalry behave like cavalry by default.

Seems like Yuris is about to join the fray as well now. I think Sullla may wish he had built a couple more units once he decided to attack teh.
So the question is how to fight best on two fronts. I think the worst thing Sullla can do is try to fight Yuris head-on now. Frankfurt and Mainz are both rather useless cities to Yuris, so it might be better to fight a delaying action with the aim of holding Aquilae and Arpinum until teh is eliminated.
I think Yuris's timing is impeccable here. I still don't think he can win, but Sullla's army is out of position, teh is still around, and Yuris's didn't have an army that could fight a battle earlier and win. He'll likely still lose, in the end.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

How do you think Sullla should respond?
If I were Sullla, I would retreat to stall out yuris, wait for muskets + 2nd GG and crush Yuris. Don't think Teh can make a comeback with 1 or 2 cities, especially because Sullla is so far ahead.
I wonder what Sullla's plan is here - he must have seen Yuris power rising and seen the writing on the wall. Maybe hidden knights in the fog of war?
