[SPOILERS] Yossarian blames Caledorn

Good move with the promotions. Have you got cynheard's combat spreadsheet? Saves a lot of time on simming...

We're starting to get some responses to our group email:

Dinosaurs Wrote:Of course we are interested in signing this pact.

We built a city near roman boarder, and we blocked 10 tiles with forest. Could you do the same, and block them too?

EggHeads Wrote:Hi, here is the picture of Antium on t88.

On t89 it grows to size4.
Top power jumps to 118k at the start of T89, so I guess there is some Praets now.

-EggHeads

I think Caledorn is going to take over the group diplo with these guys. I'll keep chatting with Teddy, though.

Sent an email meant for you to SutOxy instead

TeddyKGB
hi, got ur mail
YossarianLives
Yeah... Sorry about that
We have our first barb axe we're dealing with. Have you seen any of those yet?
TeddyKGB
not yet. we have spawn bust pretty well
u have horses connected soon?
YossarianLives
Not sure. If we get horses, that will delay our wheat city
We want to take Roman's southern sugar city
TeddyKGB
rome might dow us next turn
YossarianLives
Although, Asterix said Rome is talking to him, had an interesting suggestion
TeddyKGB
interesting
YossarianLives
What if we pool our resources and bribe Rome into attacking India?
Why do you think they will DOW you?
TeddyKGB
yup, that would be nice
Indias Mids city close to romes border
YossarianLives
Have you seen any praets yet?
TeddyKGB
well, i took a chariot to look into antium this turn
they might wanna defend it by attacking our chariot
no praets yet
YossarianLives
No spears or axes yet either, I don't think
TeddyKGB
what deal we could offer to rome to attack india?
YossarianLives
I don't know. Money? Troops? Land agreement?
Workers / settlers?
What do you think would be worth it?
TeddyKGB
OB and NAP is a start I guess
YossarianLives
Yeah, sure
TeddyKGB
its worth much to rome
instead of fighting 4 teams at once
did they respond to u?
we didn't get any word from them
YossarianLives
We haven't heard anything from them. Just Asterix said they've had a little communication, and wondered if we would be interested in pursuing that idea
TeddyKGB
btw, its India with top power
YossarianLives
Now it is, I know
Last turn, we were #2 and Rome was ahead of us
Then again, graphs are delayed, and we went ahead from Rome this turn, so I guess we were #2 compared to India
TeddyKGB
this turn graph show india ahead of rome
its 2 turns delay i suppose
YossarianLives
Rome hasn't had any power increase for awhile
TeddyKGB
yep
YossarianLives
Oh is it two turns?
TeddyKGB
i suppose so
YossarianLives
We've been discussing it in our thread and we will move up the wheat city
TeddyKGB
well we have 2nd horses improved but not connected
we might think of some trade with u if u need it
but our workers are busy atm
YossarianLives
Thanks!
I don't think we need chariots right away. Rome won't be building many axes
TeddyKGB
did rome keep saving gold on math?
YossarianLives
Yeah, no change
TeddyKGB
pls tell me if they start sailing
our forpost city is kinda crap
YossarianLives
Will do
TeddyKGB
k ty
YossarianLives
Your forpost city?
TeddyKGB
silver one
YossarianLives
Well the silver is huge. We're connecting ours in a couple turns

tldr:

Teddy is afraid Rome will take out the chariot they used to peak at Antium
He's on board with Asterix's idea to send GG against Care Bears, but doesn't seem to be too interested in paying much
They'll have a second source of horses soon, they can trade us if we need Chariots against the barb axes.

Thanks for the tip. I just found Cyneheard's combat calculator. Not sure I understand everything about it, but I'll keep it around for the next time something like this comes up.

We got a funny letter of introduction from Team Orgynized:

Quote:Dear Team Caledorn!

Lately we had some vision of your incomming scouts and today we had the opportunity to dispatch some sexy female diplomats to "meet and greet". Team Orgynized is very fond of meeting new civilizations and are hoping that you want to establish a friendly tone in the next ages to come.
Here are some appreciations in form of love: <3 <3 <3 <3

I'll be working on a reply later tonight, and also some other replies. smile

The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. More diplo, for those interested in it.

SutOxy Wrote:Dear Friends,

In order to resolve the difficulties arising from LP abandoning the Orgynized team, we will declare a "phony war" with Orgynized over the next few turns. Arikipeller will benefit from your support and patience as he takes full control of the Dutch civilization.

We were BCC'd, and we don't know who else was included in that message. Now that we have contact with Orgy, we should try to figure out what Arki's side of the story is.

Dinosaurs Wrote:HI!
We saw that ROme whip Ravenna city for 1 pop on turn 87. I think it could be monument. We will be watching units of ROme...We saw 2 chariots one near hills near Ravenna 2-3 hex on the east. Second is near South border of Rome...What units did You See. We saw on the power graph that Rome has increased his military power.

We are going to wait what ROme would do ...We settled city on this turn (88) that we will block South of Rome border.
We propose to have some units near Roman border in case of attack ROme on both nations Incans and Byzantium and that it takes to divide Rome forces . We saw the Rome power graph and I don't think that Rome has 103 K of soldier .
Let's summerize what everyone has known about Rome
On 87 turn ROme whiped 2 pop it could be first pret
Rome chopped forst near city with gold on turn 87
6 cities
They have horse and iron.
Baracks -
Neapolis - 3 pop yes / has 10 production
Rome -yes- whre it is ...did you have screenshots of Roman capital
Ravenna - 1 pop mayby - it wasn't monument on 87 t. /Iron
Arpinum - where is it
Cumae -where is it...I think it is city with gold near DT border
Antium - 4 pop ?? - we need acctual information

We should share screenshots of Roman border.

DT Team

This was sent just to us, EggHeads were not included. It's been awhile, so I'll try to do a little C&D tonight and figure out a more accurate breakdown of GG's power.

Asterix Wrote:Hi Yossa,

you are welcome to talk with England and Byzantium - as the Rome's direct neighbors, you are naturally most interested in this idea smile. Especially you talking with England will be very helpful, we cannot, as we have not met them in game yet. I just want to stress out that this idea just occurred to me very recently after chatting with DMOC, so I had not time yet to run it by Romans and I have no indications whatsover that they would be up to it. On the other hand, it seems kinda perfect to everybody - except India wink - so I think it is worth pursing. Yossa, you seem to be a much better leader of such cause - both because of your experience and and being one of Rome's direct neighbors, so you are welcome to take over smile. I can try to help in contacts with Romans, they seem to like us for some reason smile.

I would love to chat, I would prefer gmail chat. I try to find you on it this week.

Thank you a lot for the screenshot - I suspected there was stone somewhere there but was unlucky with scouting.

Best Regards,

Asterix

Okay, got some diplowork done.

For Team Dinosaurs and Eggheads:

Quote:Greetings

Thank you, Eggheads, for the screenshot of Antium. smile Yossarian has taken the time to make a composite image of the lands we know the Romans have that we are including in this joint email.

We currently have 3 quechuas strategically located around the Roman lands as scouts. Our plan is to replace two of these with Axes, and the third one we'd like to hear your thoughts about we should do with since he's landlocked between Roman and Dinosaur land. Dinos: We can move him the way you feel is best, or and send screenshots to you both, or we could even sell him to you if you're interested.

Also, Asterix approached us with an idea that we attempt to bribe Rome into starting a fight with India instead of any of us. It turns out GG has actually responded to correspondence from Team M&M. We would obviously need to rely on Asterix to do the talking if we are interested in that arrangement as Team M&M is the only one we know of that GG has actually responded to, which is a bit of a weak link to this suggestion. It could be nice to keep India occupied with some nasty praetorians to keep their score more even with the rest of us, and we could also make the suggestion that "Either you fight India, or you fight all three of us instead" (Which for some reason reminded me of the old "We have nuclear weapons to back up our words!" AI diplomacy in the previous Civ games). What do you guys think? We're not really sure what to make of it, but thought it was an idea that we should discuss together.

And for Orgynized (which we now know for sure lacks Parkin, and thus we can afford to be a bit more lenient with as their threat level without Parkin has dropped significantly):

Quote:Orgynizatorial Masterminds,

We are very disappointed that you only sent sexy female diplomats as half our leadership prefers sexy male diplomats, but we are eagerly awaiting a remedy to this unfortunate incident. :D

On the less serious matters of friendship, naps, and all those minor issues compared to the above - we are indeed very pleased to meet you. We now have contact with all the different teams, and as a gesture of friendship we will happily share the layout of the teams with you, in case you were not aware of this already. The map is split in two halves, one northern and one southern, with some very hostile lands comprised of tundra and ice between the teams in those hemispheres. In the north you will find yourselves, EggHeads, Care Bears, Asterix/Maga and SutOxy (in that order from west to east) - while in the south you will find us, GG, Dinos, Ponies and BowAivo. Your location in the north is slightly offset, so that your team is located approximately north of the middle of the lands between us and BowAivo, making you our northwestern neighbour.

We would happily sign a NAP with you, if you are interested - our initial suggestion is until T140 for now, with renegotiations around T125-130. We would also like to let you know that our main concern at the time being is making sure that ever quiet Rome does not turn their aggressive Praetorians on us.

All the best,
Caledorn - Court Fool of Team Blame Caledorn

Here's a better composite shot of Rome:

Edit: I think Teddy said that Care Bears' Pyramids are just north of GG's iron city, so it's off in that peninsula to the northeast. Nice juicy target, no?
