Not that I have to say anything in this discussion, but I guess part of the idea to leave the mapmaking and settings up to the mapmaker is that you cannot choose your civ and leader based on the map or the settings. If you take organized and then he sets it to Noble it is unfortunate. But then it is on you to find the best civ/leader combination for an unknown situation. Instead now asking to set it at least to a certain level, might be unfair on all others which did not choose based on prior knowledge about the settings or map.

Though i would assume anyway that the mapmaker normally looks at the choices and will not set it to Chieftain only to screw you with your Organized leader over wink

But as I said, not my PBEM, so I have nothing to say in that discussion.

Serdoa's comments reflect the situation very well. I think the decision should be made without too much knowledge of the map or settings.

You never can go wrong with :expansive financial, or Creativ financial, i was just
asking to see if other leaders could have a good value. So i asked only to find a litlle more to see if i can play a diferent combination.And in my opinion dificulty
should be know because then some combination could get more value.

Mackoti - you guys kind of have to decide which way you want it. I get the impression that the majority is aware of the implications you are describing, and they are fine with the gamble you have to take with not knowing the difficulty. If everyone else wants to not know, then you're just going to have to roll the dice a bit, or go with something that you feel is "safe."

I would expect the game to be at Max Normal speed. Epic and Marathon would really draw out a PBEM game and make it too long imo.

You are up mackoti for your perfectly balanced combo.

I guess Ruff / Sylon would then be up.

I have not seen a lurker thread on map creation yet. How's this going Jowy?
