How about an Erebus Continent map? This is a map script that doesn't come with the FfH mod, but it's made specially for it and I really like using it in single player games. The created maps are similar to the Erebus map script ones, but they are more balanced and better designed. You have a lot of choke points and different terrains.
I would edit it a bit, especially the starting area, to avoid players with better starts then the others. But most of the map would be what the generator created.

I'm not a fan. That was the map script we used in PBEM3, and PBEM7, and in both cases there were serious complaints about the balance - things like, in PBEM3, me and Thoth having the whole west to ourselves while Mr. Yellow was squeezed badly, and Irgy started in the jungle. And talk to Brian about his land vs the Balseraphs' land in PBEM7
If you edited it a lot, then I think you could get to balance, but I think there's a higher hurdle to balance Erebus Continents than to balance most of the other scripts.

I strongly and extremely advise against using Erebus Continent for anything multiplayer.

Lairs are fine I guess, but we need a Great Person disband rule.

I'm fine with a rule that says T50 (in-game) is the first turn you can keep a free Great Person. Obviously doesn't apply to any GP you get from running specialists.

Ummm, I'm not sure I agree with this. I can understand wanting to keep the game from becoming distorted by a lucky GP pop, but disbanding them before turn 50 seems extreme (esp. since getting a GP on T51 will still be really valuable). If everyone really wants a restraint on early GPs, why can't we just agree to put any non-produced GPs to sleep in the capital until turn X?
Played in: PBEM 4 [Formerly Jowy's Peter of Egypt] | PBEM 10 [Napoleon of the Dutch] | PBEM 11 [Shaka of France] | EitB XVI [Valledia of the Amurites] | PB7 [Darius of Rome] | Diplomacy 3 [Austria-Hungary] | PBEMm/o vs AutomatedTeller

Done, except let's use turn L instead.

I think if you roll Erebus Continent you have to accept that you're basically going to have to rebalance the entire area for any player. Not to mention I can with some certainty tell you where the players will land on the map given a certain set of values - I did some testing early in FFH7 and it was pretty uncanny how often a certain set of players shook out the same way. Bottom line - I think its an excellent and fun script for single player and pretty straight terrible for MP.
Anyway, these guys pretty strongly shouted they don't want flavor in the first go round, so maybe you should just roll something from Seven's Hall of Mirrors script and be done with it.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

No huts, no lairs (unless protected by held beasties).
Agree to GP not used till T50.
No animal or events doubler.
Not sure why Mercurians need to be banned, but if you want them off, fine by me.

Well since Sareln restored the team tech penalty (you really need to decouple that from the Mercurian summoning somehow, or make two separate versions of the mod IMO), the Mercurians probably ban themselves.
