Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] Alignment unknown

Excellent turn. Popped the barrow that gave Merchant and hut gave 29 gold. I also decided to pop far away dungeon (takes 3 turns).

Settling the Merchant is probably the best thing one can do at this point of a game?

Uneventful turn. I'm building Loki in Coombe View and Settler in Jubilee. settled the Merchant.

Barb warrior came visible from NW. Scout rounding Kurios found a Dungeon. I'll probably leave it for now, but might come back later to check it out.

Dungeon revealed distant treasure near blue borders (Ilios). Lot of animal traffic there. Griffon and lion visible.

Oops - There are nasty barbs around. However more notably selrahc apparently got Prophet to bulb Philo. He bragged about it in the chat. Bought AC+Mystisicsm. It is probably impossible to beat him for Ragnarok and clearly Hyborem will come way too late. I think only even remotely feasible way to handle this is to go for KotE and adept/skeleton spam that hopefully keeps me alive or alternatively find Selrach close enough to rush. He won't have much military although his world spell provide those.

Last turn of the session. Selrahc fired his world spell. Not that significant power raise. Calendar ready and decided to take Exploration before Festivals. Even KotE plan feels very weak. I would need also Necromancy to get a Death node.

Good news is that I found Selrahc. He is pretty far from me to try rushing him. Kurios are lot closer.

Is there any reasonable way to rush him being so far away?

What about going towards Horseback Riding and building Horsemen army?

Thinking this and serious risks are in order. I'll probably start popping all the lairs close by and hope for extreme luck.

Horseman rush is only viable option to hit Selrahc before he gets his tools ready and even that is huge risk and doesn't give a winning position, even if I would succeed. It is also pretty long shot since AC should start raising T50-60. So now I'm thinking I'll skip that idea for now. I'll play "normally". I think I'll just go for KotE -> Necromancy->Sorcery and spam adepts that I hopefully have good enough economy to turn to Mages. I should be able to survive with just spamming puppets and maybe even start killing horseman when I reach Mages+Spectres.

I could also settle near Seven pines to slow down Armageddon a bit, but that solution is very temporary and probably not worth it.

All in all this starts to feel pretty artificial experiment. Selrahc won't have any kind of economy and he can't e.g. improve most of his tiles for a very long time. He is just going all in with this AC rush thing and hopes for Barbs to do the job for him. This resembles the PBEM1 and his priests of Winter rush there where he beelined straight to them without proper worker techs. Barbs need to really slow us all down this to work and I think there is a fair chance some of us gets lucky and can probably beat Selrahc after the dust settles.

Hey plako,

nice to see you trying a ffh game!

Did you settle the GM? It is a very strong play in the early game as it will keep you at 100% for a while and in god king the cash is 50% extra. Actually - i see you are +2gpt at 100% so you did settle him! Another good use is a cash mission if you can agree it with someone... Remember what Serdoa did to us in pbem5?

Have you any other great person plans?

Yeah Merchant is settled. This should be AI diplo with bragging thread so sending Merchant to someone else would have been big risk. Bragging thread is not yet started, but some of the players were pretty open while chatting during the blitz wink.

I've planned to get Prophets to get Corruption of Spirit and infernal Pact fast. However it is pretty unlikely I can get there fast enough to matter and Bob can still beat me there so I might change this and try to get me some Sages to bulb in the Magic line. I'll fire my golden age early and I'm also philo now so I've potential to generate lots of Great Persons fast.

There is an additional sage slot with a mage guild now meaning that you can get 3 sage slots moderately early. It isn't a bad plan imo.
