Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

This will be interesting to dotmap.

Indeed. Moving onto the Silver this turn, and I'll try and get some decent shots to give it a first go-around tonight.

OK, so no idea; will look at it tomorrow maybe:

Well, we have some time before we have to worry about cities. Definitely some good locations, just going to be interesting to figure out how to lay them all out.

Well here's a version 1:

I like the East and the South, but am not particularly happy about the North & NE; would have to plant 1W of the Cow, which makes a city between that and Kettle awkward, and there's no access to the Fish from this continent. Moving the Deer/Silver city 1N grabs all three Food, but they are all second ring and since we don't have a culture solution yet it would have to be delayed or substandard for a period.

Moving the city 1N of the Silver gives something like this:

No changes needed to the East, but a reshuffling of each of the first-ring cities South. Deer city is short on production, but can work a bunch of riverside Cttages / Workshops. Pig city has maximum overlap with Kettle for tile-sharing goodness, but likely ends as a filler. Sheep city has less total food available, but better first-ring and can borrow production from Kettle. Either Sheep city would also be a decent candidate for an early Moai, with 10 Coast tile available to work - probably West Sheep is better, since it can give its land tiles to Pig city.

Next turn we'll see the rest of the North coast and to the Western Mountains, so can have a better idea of how that area will work out.

Close encounters of the Canine kind:

0.8/1 and 1xp.

I'm getting a distinctly islandy feel here:

Curious...it does indeed look islandy. Very narrow straits, though. That's going to make invasions later on very interesting.

I tend to favor the first dotmap -- one less city, but the cities will be better overall.

If other folks have similar starts/areas, we're going to see lots of people going for the GLH. smile

One ORG and two INDs means we'd have to be pretty focused to do it. Skip Pottery in favour of Sailing, build the Lighthouse while researching Masonry, then chop everything in range. Would delay expansion somewhat, although we have IMP to make up for it. Hum, might be worth a Sim.

Kind-of kicking myself about Carthage now though. frown
