Turn 257
It looks like the map is repeating (big image stitch below):
That's REM in the red to our northeast, with his city in the same spot we put Mussorgsky. BGN is the green in the east. And we met Gaspar's scout in the west this turn.
With everything repeating it's time to figure out which spot is most important to settle first, in order to block off the most & best land.

Actually, it doesn't seem to be a perfect repeat. The stone is 2SE of the banana for us, and for BGN the stone is E-SE of his banana.

So which one would you go for first? Aggressive choice is to try and plant in BGN's face out east, NE of the fish. Safe choice, and probably easier to develop, would be grab the one by Cui, maybe putting it between gems, pig, and copper (there's a horse 3 tiles south of the copper that doesn't show on the stitch).

Sorry for the lack of updates. I think the other game I'm in right now is affecting my desire to play any civ at all right now...

Turn 262
All right, I don't know what I was thinking the last turn or two but I went completely off script and as a result screwed up my worker micro entirely. I also didn't check city tiles, so when the governor assigned a merchant at Cui I just let it go. As a result, Cui didn't reach size 5 on t261 as it was supposed to. It did reach it this turn, but I've managed to screw up micro when the civ/leader combination really needs the micro to be solid. Sigh.
This turn the mine+chop at Cui completed and we swapped over to a settler to catch the hammers:
The goal is to get the rifleman done by the time we grow to size 8, then chop and whip out that settler. I think I can have this done by turn 271.
I also had a worker on the sugar tile -- you can see the road on it -- and I have no idea where that came from. It's not in the micro. We don't need that tile to be improved right away; we certainly don't need the happy and improving it only changes it from a 2f2h tile to a 3f1h1c tile -- so I'm going to move that worker over to the hill 2 east of Cui and mine that hill. Cui needs mines and chops for this settler, so I think we're going to end up with 4 workers around the city, trying to get eveything together.
The cities are coming along. I'm trying to emphasize cottages and commerce multipliers in the capital. I thought about building a galleon at Mussorgsky, but I think rifles for new cities are a little more importnat first -- galleons can come next. Still need to figure out what I'm doing at Mussorgsky exactly, but I think I want to put down workshops there and make those cities production oriented. I probably should pull irrigation down from the capital too so the corn gets to 6f.

Oh, I'm also thinking about Moai at Mussorgsky. Or maybe that should just wait for us to hook up the stone; in fact, putting a city on the stone and then building it on that island stone city is probably the right idea.
