shit, thought i had already posted this..
Ive played this game more than badly. However my reasoning for most of my decisions still stem from these main points:
1. GKC has an entire area to themselves to tech in peace. At the time ( and to some extent kinda still now ) that should have been an immediate end to this PB. NOW, Magic science has been allowed to explode in cities, so he might have a chance i guess? Although i expect to be smacked with viking units soon due to being the first on this continent to be discovered.
2. Japan picked traits/ect to go straight for a machinery bulb which is frankly scary shit. Being next door neighbor to early samurai, meant that i had to try and slow them down or SOMETHING. Plus they knocked my warrior in the head which was frankly rude. Did i over respond? Yeah. Did i make a fuck-ton of tactical mistakes? Yup. Did i have fun doing so? Remains to be seen.
3. Mr.Cairo had a 2 food, floodplains, 2 fur 2nd city. I skipped over my pigs/horses/sheep city to try and grab some more land so that Mr.Cairo didnt have as explosive of a start. Bad idea in the long run of course, but being that i have felt that my land so far has been sub-par... i feel it was justified. Especially when his was forested, and my ivory was covered in jungle AND is worse than furs.
Maybe i have more land in islands that i was suppose to take? I just look at all this floodplains and cringe as i have to settle some weird city locations to grab a fish tile that is in a REALLY shit spot. I guess im more salty about (imo) being shafted in the land department.
I hope to improve my gameplay with every pitboss, but this one is just not one of those. I apologize to the lurkers/players for my attitude regarding this pitboss and i hope to remedy it in the rest of my pitbosses. Thanks

In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

You might be able to still learn a lot from this one, even if you aren't thrilled with your attitude and performance. I often learn more from those kind of days.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.
1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.
2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.
3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.
4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Ive settled on teching HBR and settling as many coastal/island cities as i can. I cant tech Ironworking fast enough for it to matter for the gems area right now and all of the rest of my land is basically bottom tier crap or Calendar era cities. So, i guess turtle with HA's and eventually cats if i can make it to them before the flood of samurai come? Yippie.

Going to be prepping as much as i can for samurai. Im sure Mr.Cairo will jump in too, because im sure thats how we dont have MScience or Boak/GKC win this game.
A bunch of galleys are going to be built to both counteract the Guarenteed-because-why-the-fk-not invasions from the viking land, and to stop rusten/naufragar from getting to my island cities after they conquer the rest of my land. Im hoping to tech HBR-Masonry and then save gold while getting a scientist from the capital. Bulb math then tech either currency if im not invaded ( lol ) or construction if i am or look to be.
I apologize if i sound any extra bitter lately in my last few posts/ect.. been going through some struggles IRL and its been bleeding into other things.

Thanks.
Settled another city, but i screwed up my micro/ect and didnt have a workboat in place... feelsbadman. Going to be going hard on Stables/HA's once HBR is in. Ive gotta keep settling island cities and maybe try and tech MC? eh... going to be a rough short game i think for the Koreans.
Spoiler for those that wanna know way too much IRL stuff: ( alot of info.. TLDR: broke up with girlfriend of 4 years. )
Broke it off with a girlfriend of 4 years, I'm not great at social things like that so getting yelled at and made to feel bad for wanting to break up for a good solid 4 hrs was real fun. For those that don't know ( i don't know if i ever said it on this site ) I have high-functioning autism ( Asperger's ) and it deals mostly with social cues, being specialized in only a couple of things, and having a general non-changing stance on things. So its been about a month since she moved out of my house and i decided to get myself a new gal and i got a bunch of flak from my mother/grandparents for moving on so "quickly" So my lack of reporting was mostly due to that stuff.
So on that note. Hows everyone's day going?

That's tough. That's tough under any circumstances. My condolences.
If you don't mind, does the fact that you are aware that specifically that you have a non-changing stance on things make it easier to recognize when you should have a changing stance on something?

Usually. Not easy to actually change even if i recognize it.
