We were just discussing the idea of gifting you a galleon or two filled with Zerks to let you attack out of the blue. But while the NAP doesn't explicitly rule it out it is definitely against the spirit of "no aggression" frown. Also they have a lot of caravels hanging around which would make a sneak attack by sea pretty difficult.

We plan to set up a sentry net of caravels around the Troll coast over the next few turns - would you like an update whenever they do anything interesting?

Unit gifting is a really touchy subject at RealmsBeyond, so I don't really want something like that fighting a proxy war - but galleons feel okay because its a resource I can't get otherwise. Do you get what I mean (as I'm not sure I do lol)?
Yeah id loveupdates smile

Just to keep you informed, its possible that I might be getting a NAP with Trolls. The terms they're asking are strong, but if I think its best for my Civ I'll still be agreeing. I mention this only because you've been the most helpful groupand I don't want it to feel like a betrayal if I am no longer blood-fueding your rival.

Old Harry Wrote:I wonder if you just used the Galleons to ferry units around and didn't attack from them, and just happened to drop the units off on the beach somewhere nice (like next to the MOM city) if that would count as non-aggressive? Unfortunately if they decide it isn't and declare the NAP void we're screwed - our border with them is awfully set up and badly defended and we're relying on the next 30 turns of peace to get to a position to do anything about that.

Trolls asked a lot from us for our NAP too, so I'd suggest you can haggle a bit (I did a terrible job of negotiating - I think I'll stick to AI diplo in the future). Do whatever you think is best for your game but don't forget that they have about the same amount of war-weariness as you so they want the war over too. Our NAP with them expires t200, so if yours ends around then you may find you have opportunities...

To which Q said:
Quote:Nah, if you gave them to me Id use them for erything, I just have odd distinguishments of what Id feel comfortable accepting, and a unit that I can't build feels more morally defensible to me then an army.
But yeah, probably best not to try.
Thanks for the advice!
Unfortunately they're trying to pace it to end T220 :/

Any ideas on how to convince Q how to sustain the war, at least until we rejoin it? We should ask how much Trolls is attacking with, and how much defense TEAM has. Honestly, the most ideal situation involves them giving us Open Borders with ROP--they certainly aren't a threat to colonize SFL before us (do they even know about SFL?) and it's not that bad if we give them trade routes. It just depends on how much Tasnuke is still in the picture, since Q seems to like us smile

Unfortunately Q says:

Quote:Hey,
Just FYI I managed to get peace with TEAM for not-overly extortionate costs. Sorry if this is annoying, but its best for TEAM, if not for your chances of winning frown
I can keep you up to date on techs if necessary (Fake edit: was it you who had it anyway?? If so well smoke)

How about we say:

Quote:Thanks for letting us know - its disappointing, I guess we'll have to find someone else to hand us the game. Did you go for the t220 NAP in the end? Can you attack t220 or t221?

We still have research visibility on them, but I'll let you know if we lose it. I guess you don't need the sentry reports any more though? Let me know if there is anything else we can help out with.

Cheers

That's too bad, but yeah, I guess they have to do what's best for them (I don't know why I'm referring to TEAM as plural, seems q is on his own right now). Your reply sounds good to me.

Glad to see this game moving again smile

Just in from Pirates:

Quote:We would like to negotiate a map swap. We are tentatively offering 50 gold.
-The Pirates

I'm with CH that we don't give away our maps (and at this stage in the game 50 gold is giving them away), but how much should we ask them for?
- 500 gold will finance one turn at 100% research for us.
- Pirates can't do anything on SFL to hurt us, and I'd quite like them to settle the silver/fur island between us rather than letting M3 or Trolls get it.
- If they share the info with other teams:
- - Trolls have most of it already thanks to their explorer and caravels
- - TEAM couldn't act on it anyway
- - M3 might get some overseas trade routes with their great lighthouse

So I think we should go back saying something like "we'd consider it for 300 gold" as a negotiating position. Thing is we don't need the money straight away as we're saving cash until the universities are all built, so we could suggest 30gpt for ten turns.

Any thoughts?

I think 30gpt for 10 turns sounds like a good counter-offer.

Should we go ahead and sell the map to everyone if we're concerned it might get around anyway? At least that way we get a benefit from everyone getting our maps.

Should we try to get deals in place with everyone before selling it?
