what? you can't be serious to choose Rome to play and not know that one of the big features is that legions don't require iron?

Ugh - getting rushed like this can be incredibly frustrating. War is always exciting for the lurkers, but it always comes with an enormous cost for at least one of the players involved. Of course, there's always the chance to make the conquests even more costly for your attacker so the enemy loses along with you, but even if that works, unless you go into the game expecting that it could happen, one hard-fought defensive war can seem like scant return for the investment of time and emotion in a long-running MP game.

I hope you've enjoyed the experience in spite of currrent and recent game events - and of course it isn't over yet! I still remember MH's incredible defense against Dreylin's far-more-powerful empire in Civ4's PbeM1; I don't know if there's any way to match that in this situation, but it would be the stuff of legends if you did!

Not a quick enough iron mine, 2-3 more warriors instead of a 5th settler and overall my micromanagment and speed with which I did tasks.

I believe legions don't require iron?

Ah, yeah, I don't know how to break this to you Archduke, but Legions don't require iron.  You didn't notice the upgrade symbol when you clicked on your Warriors?

I guess he means no quick enough iron-mine to boost Iron working earlier.

I also didn't see that it was the iron mine to trigger a eureka that was needed. Well, maybe it doesn't come in too late. Who knows?

My capital has fallen, looking forward to read the other threads. Seems I still have quite a bit to learn about Civ, I do hope for a 2nd chance in the next PBEM though.

My estimate that I am completly overrun in about 10 turns. 7-8, if the other players are smart enough to attack me now as well.

My defensive line last stand.

One legion has been upgraded, another warrior can be soon upgraded thanks to german subsidies.

Germany has also intervened on my side, although I fear that the Aztecs will intervene as well although rather to eat me up.

I requested another 90 subsidies, but I doubt I can stand up to his legions with a Great General.
