Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Japper and Alhambram go bongo bongo in the Kongo [Spoilers within]

You already has slinger out together with warrior, more slingers or warriors at this moment isn't really needed unless you get signal that there is new barb camp nearby and new barb scouts.
Other scenario for slinger or warrior now is rho21 DoW and harass with his single warrior but that would be foolish of him and I don't expect him to do it (since it would be free Defensive Tactics inspiration for us).
I normally would save up building more slingers/warriors in both cities till craftsmanship completed which unlocks agoge for faster military units.

That is why I suggest scout for new city, because scouts don't have any extra production modifiers. And we can use it to scout unknown lands faster while keeping our military units close for defense.

Builder soon finished, he shall farm rice tile and improve 2 horse tiles, correct? In that case if my counting isn't mistaken, you improve 3rd tile at turn 27 for craftsmanship, just in time for Pantheon.
If you can finish monument in capital faster than turn 27, then it is worth to give it shot.

Going for 3rd settler soon...colonization is quite far away and as you say in this current capital it might worth to do it. However that mean that new city is going be slinger. Because if you can't defend it, new cities/districts are worthless. Maybe a compromise here: go for scout-slinger in new city and monument (if it finishes fairly quick) - settler in capital?

And what is request of Brussels?

Scout is a good idea, didn't even think of building one so late. We can at the very least use him to find rho's capital and the Scientific city state he found, which also gives us the boost for PolyPhi. We can churn out an army by going Agoge+Urban Planning when we get the third improvement down.

I'll check on the build times for monument vs settler in the cap.

6 turns on a monument, 11 on a Settler. I think monument-Settler is the way to go here.

Settling got delayed for a turn cause the damn barb Scout was on the planned tile

Should've posted about that last turn but I was a bit tilted by that as you would expect...

Whatever Idiot God is in control of the RNG in this game did take some pity on us however:

The tile picker decided randomly to change it's mind last minute from the cattle tile to the Rice, meaning we have to spend zero gold on tiles to make the micro line up! dancing

oh right: new capital build: monument down to 5 turns due to overflow.

Have a fun idea for a naming scheme:

Since we are both Dutch, why not go with some of those "awful" foods we Dutchies adore:

-Patatje Oorlog
-Raw Herring
-Frikandellen
-etc.

I have some Boer and Indonesian heritage (mostly my family was a bunch of dirty no-good colonials scared ), so we could even expand it to weird Spice Islands and Afrikaner cuisine nod

Turn popped in just before I went to bed (quick turnaround with just 4 people, we've had several 2 turn days already) so we got to settle today:

Frikandel is quite a glorious city, even without a border pop or a single improvement. It'll be even better once our Builder improves the 2 Horses. Speaking of our Builder btw:

He built a farm on the Rice. I opted to swap to the tile immediately, though it slowed down the monument from 4 to 5 turns it increased growth from 4 to 2 turns. Very happy with that trade!

Our Slinger discovered another very strong city site to the south, I'm starting to feel the mapmakers are trying to give me a handicap here or something crazyeye :

Here's an overview of our empire so far, with planned city spots marked in. We have some spectacular dirt here, without any need to stretch since it'll all be a diamond shape. Let's get to work hammer

Good call to name city near two horse resources Frikandel, it is well known that Frikandel contains horse meat. lol
Well, other possible names for your cities: Broodje Bal, Drop (a lot foreigners hate this dutch sweet candy, especially extra salt one) and Stroopwafel.
You can always add some Indonesian or Afrikaner names.

City at south do have some nice resources but overall not very strong production, fairly much flat tiles (or maybe more hills hidden in fog?). Since rho21 came from north, that spot at south is maybe a backline spot that we can settle later.
Need to scout west and east more to check whether what lies over there.

Hadn't even thought about the horsemeat connection lol I just named them after two things I ate that day. Love the suggestions too goodjob

Yep spot to the north would be my first call too. Do remember that this map was generated on standard, not new world age, so this is still quite a lot better than you normally get out of the maps (mostly they are barren as hell).

I guess you did warn me... That is the second time that scout wreaks havoc on my plans. First it delays settling Frikandel and now it snipes my Builder out of the damn fog rant
