So, to update...

Razed a border city which was left visibly undefended for 7 turns. Sunk two Galleys and a Work Boat in the area too.

Then...

Captured a city defended by a single Archer, and destroyed a Galley which had been sitting in the city for many turns. Lost one Axe in the process. Still not sure that was a better decision than razing... though we can easily reinforce it or abandon and retake it later with stacks of Maces and Catapults. Also captured that Worker on the shoreline.

Finally, the tech we researched was...

Hmm, apparently Mackseven's Pyramids is really working out for them - they just finished Guilds in 5 turns. That's several turns faster than we could have researched it. And they're only one tech from Mercentalism now, which will give them even more beakers per turn. yikes

Another new city - really just a backfilling location. Will put a Worker on a Galley to mine that Silver once the borders expand there.

Demographics are looking alright, though our Stele/wonder culture is rather inflating our GNP. Mackseven and possibly some of the others are pretty hot on our heels in terms of beakers per turn. Need to work on that.

Forbidden Palace will be done next turn, so that should provide some minor relief from maintenance costs.

Got a Great Spy this turn at low odds this turn... interesting. Think we'll just wander him around for a while. Will probably use him for a Golden Age at some point, but in the meantime we may as well make use of the free snooping while he's available.

Did Sunrise seriously just raze the Great Lighthouse city? Even if it didn't contain the Great Lighthouse, that city still had to be large... 34 points lost between Sunrise's score increase and decrease! And he apparently isn't assigning value to all those lost pop points, when in reality they're far from worthless. There is no way that can have been a good move, surely.
