Hi, after the storm of the last week or two, I have now settled back into playing the game and have much to report.
Firstly, I have been in diplomatic discussions with Kyan, who wants to spread his religion into my lands, which would obviously benefit him alot later game when he gets a shrine.
He has offered me HALF of the gold per turn he gains from the shrine from the religion in my cities if i agree to allow him to send missionaries to my cities (and yes he did say he would send a number of them).
Although i had previously agreed to take Seifers religion, me and seifer agree that this is a plan that has lots of pluses for us.
Firstly it saves Seifer the hammers of building missionaries to send to me at this stage, yet he can still transfer his religion to me later on if he gets his own shrine to gain the same benefit, and I get the benefits of a religion in a number of my cities and it would be easy to spread it to any Kyan leaves out.
So I have agreed to Kyans deals, Kyan says this will further our relations and that he may be more inclined to offer me beneficial deals in the future...we will have to see what happens there.
Secondly I got a strange fluke and have taken action that some people on this forum may consider borderline crazy!
Through a mixture of whipping and chopping, I have unintentionally gained an overflow of 49 hammer in my capital all in one go, this combined with the fact that I have stone, means it would only take ONE hammer to build the great wall in a single turn.
I would not normally build it in a multiplayer game as it has very little effect, as barbs are turned off, however I get a small culture increase, great spy points (although not sure if any of their abilities are legal in this game, can someone confirm what i can and cannot do with them if i do get them?) and lastly greater chances of developing great generals.
For a one turn build I cannot see how i am losing out here, so thought what the hell.
So in a single turn I have effectively whipped and chopped my workers to hell and back...the end result, one massive wall built in no time at all, and a large amount of workers laying on the floor completely flayed of skin.
I think I need a new whip...any suggestions for a good place to get one?

I am pretty sure this only applies to fighting in your own lands and not when you on a rampage!

Hello to anyone lurking in my thread.
You will all have no doubt noticed that my updates have been completely non existant for the last month or so. Well there is a reason for this...I have been building up for a war against cull and this information seemed far too sensative to post on here.
As my closest ally, I let seifer in on the plan quite some time ago but asked him not to mention it on his thread also.
This war probably does not come as much of a surprise as I am sure the other players have all noticed my rise in power over the last month, which saw me sky rocket ahead of the pack.
Although it quickly became apparent that Kyan has reacted to my power increase with his own and he has kept just below my power during my rise.
I positioned my entire army 1 tile east of a hill tile immediately next to culls culture, so the hill concealed my army, I then moved my workers ahead to build a road 1 north of the hill (which coincidentally was the hill he founded a city on which caused our last dispute), allowing my army to move 2 tiles on the first turn they moved into line of sight. Then this turn I finally declared.
I was somewhat confused when I uploaded the turn to find that Kyan had pipped me to the post and declared on Cull this turn as well!
Kyan and Strike both knew that I was planning a war, as strike had a unit exploring my land and it was more or less impossible to sneak my army around him when he was on the main road through my land and kyan had quizzed me on my power rating around the same time.
As Kyan and I both have very large power ratings this could be interesting, I just hope I am able to stake my claim on as many of culls good cities as possible before Kyan's army takes them from under my nose, especially as the cost of maintaining this army has radically reduced my tech rate (I can only maintain about 40% with this army and still be on positive gold per turn!), so I really need to claim multiple cities for this gambit to have been worth while.
My attacking stack consists of a large number of Axemen and Catapults, as well as Spearman to bulk up the forces and as a possible counter to mounted units if he has any.
As well as a few horse archers, which I intend to use to cut off his access to mounted units. As Seifer and I have traded maps I now have 95% of the entire world mapped out so I know that we only have around 1 horse each and cannot see any others in culls land so taking out the horse tile at his nearest city should be a sizeable feather in my cap.
Seifer has been spying in Culls land for me for a number of turns in order to provide me with some intel. From what I can gather Culls defenses mostly consist of Axemen and Warriors, so I am hoping he will fold like a stack of cards in an earthquake.
Although from what I gather his capital will be a tough nut to crack!

The first battle in the war between me and Cull has taken place, my stack arrived at Istanbul and I sacrifised 2 catas attacking his defending stack (which consisted of 2 axe and 1 warrior).
This actually took the odds of my Axeman winning battles to over 80%, I then sent 3 seperate axemen into the city, all of which were injured but didn't die and took the city, which is already connected to my road network, as I took workers into the war with me for this very purpose.
I am now about 5 turns from his capital city, which I feel will make an excellent addition to my empire. I will leave some troops at the city I have already taken (probably consisting of a spearman and all the injured axemen, who can sit back and recover their health, in time for whenever they are next needed).
From what I understand about the maths behind capturing cities any building already in place has something like a 20% chance of surviving the capture, except wonders which are 100% maybe someone can confirm that?
Either way the city does not seem to have a granary, so I figured I would build my equivelant, which is a terrace as my first build in the captured city. As it cannot work any tiles yet its gonna take a while, but this will get some culture into the city as soon as possible, its got a lot of resources in the second ring, (personally I might have made it into 2 cities, but I can see why cull put the city where it is).
I also already have plans to plant a city between the newly captured istanbul and my previous border city, along the coast.

Thanks for the updates, Malakai.
When capturing a city, you always keep all wonders, never keep any cultural buildings, never keep any national wonders, and you have a percentage chance of keeping other buildings, which I think may be 50%, at least more than 20%. Settled great people are always kept.
As the Inca you actually have a sweet and unique advantage - you can capture a granary which will be converted to a terrace and start producing culture. What's more, if the granary is more than 1000 years old the cultural output is doubled to 4 cpt.
I have to run.

I wondered if it would automatically convert to a terrace if kept, thats pretty sweet, didn't know about the double culture over 1,000 years old thing though. Although if it was real life wouldn't you think it would be crumbling away and need some major repair work if put to use for 1,000 years or more lol :P

To be clear, the 1000 year doubler applies to all buildings that produce culture.

Almost all buildings. The doubling time is defined per building as CommerceChangeDoubleTimes in CIV4BuildingInfos.xml. Palace and Academy are the exceptions in the regular game, which never double.

I have now moved a horse archer into line of sight of Culls northern city (ie his capital) and have noticed he has moved the 2 spearman out of this city, moving one close to where my horse archer was and another to the south, unsure as to the reasoning beind this tactic at this time, I am sure it will all become clear as my stack approaches.
My units have noticed one of strike's chariots near my stack, this means he will have seen my entire attacking stack and for this reason I am leaving some units behind in the city as I move towards culls capital, just in case strike decides to take advantage of the situation to raze the city.

I have been in discussions with Seifer, he wants to try and beat Kyan to Nationalism and/or Liberalism as well as trying to build the Taj Mahal before Kyan can get a chance, and in order to increase his odds of succeeding has expressed an interest in borrowing some gold from me so he can run at 100% tech rate for a number of turns and then repaying me back double afterwards.
I am trying to get more information on exactly how much he wants to borrow and what the repayment terms will be (ie how long and will i still get double back if Kyan still beats him to those techs / the taj mahal), but as I currently have around 200 gold sitting around I am tempted to agree to his offer, I trust him to repay the gold under any agreed terms and when I get the money back I can leave my tech rate at 100 % til it runs out, which should put me ahead of the tech level i would have been had i not agreed to his offer.
Additionally I have been focussing on the war not on economy and therefore my tech rates and gold production rate are likely to increase during the term of the loan so I can make better use of the gold later rather than earlier.
(I hope i have not misunderstood the maths behind all of this, maybe a lurker can confirm that I am correct in my above assumptions? Or provide any information about the way the game works to help me make this decision)
