Are you, in fact, a pregnant lady who lives in the apartment next door to Superdeath's parents? - Commodore

[Spoilers] Dreylin & Grimace TOW the line

Probably so; which means that the land visible to North and South of us is islands separating us from other civs. Possibly something like this:

With the red as the civ "pods" and the green being the linking islands. So far it looks like those are more substantial than illustrated here, but you get my idea. It's also possible we're in a double-helix arrangement with two parallel strings of civs rotating around each other, but I think that unlikely since we are an odd number.

It's going to be important to find out who the neighbours are and secure the pod against them.

Close encounters of the Feline kind...

Comfortable victory, 42hp left and a promotion due. Retreated to the Sheep hill to heal and keep an eye out for our neighbour.

Oh, and here's a new shot for dotmapping with our Copper shown:

Something like this I think:

Settling order based on having no access to Culture for the foreseeable future.

#3 grabs the Cow to allow #4 to not be 1N or 1NE and thus not leave a bunch of land open. Silver waits for a border pop from #1 or #4 before going down. #2 could be delayed past #3 & #4 if Horses aren't in the early area and we feel a need to accelerate an early unit.

I like it, except I feel like west of the capital isn't quite right. The site W of the bananas is going to be a later city, and though it will completely block the strip of land, that only applies if we get there before whoever is on the other side does. I kind of feel like that site and the site on the hill 2W of the wheat should be combined in a city SE of the banana. It won't grow very fast until Calendar, but it will be viable fairly early and its culture will block off that strip. It will be a better city than either of the other spots by themselves, but will obviously reduce the total city count by one. I just don't see us getting the spot W of the bananas before someone on the other side plants a city close enough to make it awkward.

Yeah, you're probably right. That was one of the reasons I have city 5 numbered as such. Does mean we'll need a pile of Workers, since each new city is planting for new food rather than shared.

If it weren't for the geography, I think your plan would be perfect...but given it's a virtual certainty we have a neighbor on both sides, we have to make it a priority to block them out. And it's a bit far away for a pink dot.

Though a lot of cities will still share food...Even the new west city will be able to use the cows near city 3 if needed.

and our NW neighbour is ... [drumroll]:

Haram: IND/PROD of Sumeria

"Stole" our first-pick (maybe) and then paired it with Sumeria - which is a bit of a bummer for our prospects of going Praetorian-conquering in that direction, at least. He could get hung up on early wonders and expand slowly, which is a good argument for not doing so ourselves. If he does, we might be able to push that NW choke after all....

Went NW-NW and should be able to slip the Scout past quickly and skirt the city to find his far neighbour.

Grew to Size 4 and finished The Wheel:

A 4t Settler, as planned.

In the East, things are getting a bit tense:

And in the West it looks like either the forests aren't completely mirrored, or Haram got a growth (NW of the Scout).

Looks like his City #2 is coming out to the same region as ours.

I'd guess a growth. Everything else is too similar to think there'd be any differences.

Glad to hear things are on track. We should try to find out who our SE neighbor is fairly soon, too.

That's the plan for the Warrior ... if he survived. scared
