[SPOILERS] SevenSpirits trashes three estates and a copper

Indeed I do. smile

Quote:About the FP/wheat, I doubt it'd make a big difference long term. You could make a personal compromise of not improving that tile ever, short of like an oasis.

I'm definitely not going to now! I've already put resources into settling that city. It was only marginally better than settling elsewhere since it's a reach and required a mediocre stepping stone as my 4th city, but if it loses 3f suddenly it's actually MUCH worse. Like, imagine everyone gets to pick a pile of money, of sizes $15, $16, $17, $18, $19, $20, or $21. Everyone picks $21. But I was accidentally given a $22 pile instead of a $15 pile, and I pick that. The handicap you suggest would turn it back into a $15 pile, which unbalances things a lot more than just leaving it as $22.

Map mistakes happen (see pbem29 and probably every other game as well), and as Seven points out it's not fair to impose a penalty on Seven now that he's planned his play around the resource. The mistake wasn't noticeable by Seven with this unorthodox map, so he shouldn't be made to suffer.

(I'm dedlurking, btw.)
I have to run.

You guys were missing the Incense in 29? The capitals were definitely unbalanced there, some had freshwater in the non-Ivory plant and some did not.

Like I said, nothing gamebreaking. Oops, onward.

Anyway it seems I've stumbled upon the most efficient way to get lurker comments - photoshop stuff into screenshots of the map. smile

Color me confused. Where does photoshop come in?
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

If he photoshops flood plains onto corn and wheat, he'll get more comments.

Oh. I thought he was saying that this was all a photoshopped joke.

Just imagine if you were playing against me. I'd be convinced that you were planning a vicious attack, going to beat me to a wonder by 1 turn and pouring sugar in my gas tank whilst buggering my mother in an uncomfortable place.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Hehe. I do have the highest power in this game. Who knows what I might try!

Oh speaking of which, Yuri just birthed a great artist. 8-)
