Lewwyn Falls from Heaven, and Bounces Really High [SPOILERS]

Lewwyn Wrote:If I seem at all concerned about tech rate, one reason is this turn someone got a Great Sage. I don't know how.
Being PHI, starting with AC, teching Myst first and building early Sages Council all while being in Pacifism is a way.
Lewwyn Wrote:Is there an early event that gives you a sage if you have enough money? Should I save money for a few turns just in case I get that opportunity too? I've seen the events for Great Prophets, but a Sage?? I mean free early academy? Isn't that a bit broken? I'm working really hard to pop a GS and the only event I got was a free +8 beakers! Did I get event screwed?
There's an event for Prophet, Engineer and Artist. There's no events that give a Sage or a Merchant.

Well that makes me feel good. As long as I'm not getting beat by events I'm satisfied.

Curious. Do these events for Great People usually happen at a certain point? Should I save up some gold just in case? Is that what people normally do in FFH just to make sure?

They can trigger any time from t0. It's 50g for a prophet, 75 for engineer, 120g for settled great artist ( needs ice in bfc to trigger ), 5 draft unhappy for mobile great artist. Yes, people do tend to put some money aside for these events, rare as they are.

Another big event to save for is 100 gold for a settler

Considering I'm churning 6 turn settlers, I wonder if this worth it. I'm still getting a settler right then, but 100 gold is probably 20+ turns of 100% research. But I think I will save a bit of gold up...

yes, i dont think its worth 100 gold a setler, its so hard to get gold on ffh(late cotages) and techs are very expensiv.

I think I'm going to save up some gold the next 5 turns or so. I don't need calendar that quickly because my 1 worker will be building roads, farming 3rd city's rice. I will start teching again when my worker gets closed to finishing those planned improvements and time it so the worker lands on the sugar the same turn calendar finishes.

I think I've made the right calls so far in teching full speed ahead since I really needed those techs to give my worker something to do. I have a bit of leeway now.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong (hopefully), but I don't think Great Prophet events are available to neutral leaders. Good or evil each have one, but no luck for you.

And I agree that 100 gold for a settler loses its luster when you're expansive.

75 for that Engineer would be an awesome event though.

GPs from events or lairs don't show up in the event log.

Okay, my shock warrior is still alive and on his way north. This means I have 3 warriors and 1 scout. I started an Elder Council in Eld, and the settler is 1 turn from completion. I will save gold for 4 turns to get to 90 gold before turning tech back on.

Apparently popping a GS can double your GNP. I mean what? I'm guessing early academy in the cap so +4 culture + 8 bpt from the elder council and sage. Then 100% tech which is netting you an extra 8 more beakers. That's 20. If you had 25-27 GNP before then the academy gives you a net gain of 4+3+8 for 40-42, which is reflected here. Still a bit scary when you first see it.

Looks like I'm 3rd in Land area which I think means the two creative civs have 2 cities that have popped borders.

But whats this? Ellimist lost creative this turn! Perpy got uppity and his traits switched to PHI/IND/CHA. Ind sucks and he probably won't get a lot out of Phi. Cha he had before. Not great luck. I'm glad he lost CRE, but it looks like it came a turn too late to stop his second city from popping borders.

Also good news that my 3 warriors and 1 scout is enough military for 3rd place here. Good thing because I'm not building anymore for a while.
