Nope... just logged in to check, and we still haven't been met by anyone. I guess it's possible they could have done the same trick to us with seeing the borders and retreating... although currently there's no tile from which they could approach us from the west to see our borders without us seeing them too. Someone could plausibly have approached us from the south and retreated without us knowing, though. Guess we'll see soon enough.

We would see it if they had espionage on us or vice versa if we made contact, right?

We'd see it because the question mark on the scoreboard would be removed and replaced by text saying "(WAR)".

But yes, we'd start accumulating espionage after meeting them (and vice versa). Before we meet, neither of us will gain espionage on the other.

Well, we've finished revealing all the land around our immediate north and northwest. This will be the final picture of that area for a while, unless and until something interesting comes up.



I really can't believe how bad the land is around here. Maybe if we pretend for a while that that massive flat tundra expanse is actually a lush grassland area, it'll suddenly get replaced while we're not looking. Probably not though.

Meanwhile, over to the southwest...



So here's where all the damned food and good land is. All bunched up right next to our neighbour and out of our reach. Honestly, if I didn't know better I'd swear the game was trolling us.

What's the prospect of us being able to rush our immediate neighbour?

[Lord Parkin]

That will depend very much on the resources we haven't revealed yet. If we have Horses/Copper and they don't, odds for us are extremely high. That would be awesome, but unlikely. If they have Horses/Copper and we don't, odds for us are non-existent, and we may well end up with an early exit from the game (being rushed by them or someone else).

If both of us have resources, it depends on our relative build/research rates. Unfortunately we're probably going to lose out in an even resource situation, because of our slow start: Chariots or Axemen are not even going to be a possibility for us until ~T50, unless we get very lucky with another hut. And that ~T50 limit is assuming we actually have the required resource(s) within reach... which it's quite possible we won't. In fact, Murphy's Law right now suggests that it's almost a certainty that we won't have them.

So we'll see after AH/BW, but my gut feeling is that rushing is unlikely to be plausible in our position. Oh well, even if it doesn't work out, maybe we can escape to an island (if those bits of land are actually islands) and play hide-and-go-seek for much of the game.

Let's now just hope that that empty patch of land south of the lake is either horsies or copper.

Yeah. Or ideally, one on the tile 1S of the lake, and the other on the tile 2N of the lake... wouldn't that be awesome! Unlikely though.

I actually think it's highly probable that it is either horse or copper.
