[SPOILERS] Seven Russias Into the Periclous Fray

Thanks for putting your thoughts down on paper, so to speak. Would it be possible to adjust Agricultural by eliminating the bonus from some but not all 4 food tiles? Maybe cut flood plains from the bonus and leave only 4 food + food resources eligible? That would be a decently strong nerf and would hopefully only require a little effort to implement by forcing a change to the flood plains code. If PRO is too strong on this map for the reason you stated then that is easily managed by future mapmakers.

Maybe AGR should give C1 to all melee/gunpowder units, some kind of cheaper building (maybe one of Chm's?), and possibly a maint reduction. I suspect people would like it, and it would be decently balanced.

I do find it amusing you want to bump down PROD's bonus to 35%. Just swapping RBmod's Exp/Pro...

I don't think that would be enough. I only have a single FP tile in my lands, for example, and I still think AGR would be too good for my start. And I doubt anyone has a bunch of them with no mitigating factors.

Plus, at that point we're getting into the territory of tortured wordings, and we're losing one of the more interesting aspects of the trait.

Calendar is coming along, and with the marble being one of my next city targets regardless, I laid some groundwork for a MoM build. I think I have a good chance at it due to the math bulb (and the academy) and the beeline that only detoured for IW. This might be my only chance at an ancient/classical wonder, so I'm going for it.

t81-82:

HAK sent his axe over to pillage the mine between us. It beat my chariot there by one turn. Meanwhile my warrior was exploring further north and found a worker, a settler and an axe. So I thought, hm, I can threaten him with my chariot and maybe mess him up a bit. Messing him up is good - I strongly believe I'll fight him before I fight anyone else, and I think I need to kill him to have a chance. So I want to slow down his snowball, I want to deny him horses, and I want to slow his claiming of land in my direction.

Well OK then. I know you could see my chariot, so why did you do this.

That dispensed with, here's my own empire. Almost every city has a granary, and I'm going to get 3 calendar resources hooked up in short order.

Hey look! I have ABOVE AVERAGE crop yield! I will treasure this moment forever.

Addendum, because t83 rolled around very quickly:

HAK did not accept my offer of peace. Personally I don't care either way, just wanted to offer it as a courtesy after burning down his city. I do care that he moved his scout into my territory, 2N of Foible. Thanks, man! That's a free 2xp and 4 great general points. Also, he's moving a third axe into the general vicinity of where his city was, while I move in a second chariot. I don't think I agree with his decision.

Calendar is in and the marble is still not claimed?! You disappoint me man.

Also, no need to worry, you have a backup iron to claim. wink

Well I don't have masonry yet.* neenerneener

And yeah, that other iron has been there the whole time but it's way too vulnerable. That city's only connection to my empire would be a single shitty vulnerable coastal town. Plus, that land is probably someone else's mainland.

* But I'll be getting the marble 1t after masonry.

t91:

* Got peace with HAK t86.
* MoM due t95, according to my past self who put signs on the map.
* Haram got currency.
* Met slowcheetah's unit a turn or two ago and found wetbandit's borders last turn.
* Wetbandit has 12-13% of world population. I set EP to him.
* No fucking clue how I am ahead of wetbandit and gawdzak in score.
* Calendar provided a ton of happiness. Using that to grow all over the place.
* Getting gold in a couple turns, allowing a size 10 capital.
* Offered dye to Haram for his spare Fur + 1gpt. If he accepts, can set up a second dye plantation (albeit unworkable) by the time we can use the extra happiness.
* Can reach currency in 9 turns at the current rate.
* I am so glad I bulbed math. Just imagine, I could be stuck with just 1 luxury still due to not yet having calendar.

Pictures:

As a random side note, ORG would be worth ~12gpt right now with FIN being worth ~11cpt, so about the same. ORG would have provided one cheaper lighthouse.

So did you win yet?

Very funny.

Sorry for the lack of reporting, I have been on a trip and then working a lot. Game is still going well though, in the sense that I like my chances against the non-top-4 opponents even more than I did before.

So let's see, I lost a bunch of commerce because Haram randomly declared war on me, didn't do anything (he left my unprotected worker on the border which he could have captured for free unharmed), and then offered peace again. Now he's paying 5gpt to Lord Parkin for OB, IIRC, instead of getting them for free from me. No clue what's going through his head with that. Anyway I immediately diverted a settler to my island, and also started on a road to GermanJojo which is now finished, and also explored over to slowcheetah and founded a city on my eastern coast to get a trade connection to him too, and got OB from him. So now I have full routes including currency.

I teched HBR and was thinking I'd get construction next. (I am allowed to build war elephants, too.) All the other good wonders are long gone so no point going for those. But I'm wanting to be ready for an opportune moment to capture some land from HAK, as I'm pretty low on good settleable spots. HAK's actual GNP is deep in the toilet, he is showing 14 turns to currency and 0 or negative gpt with no reserves. So I'm thinking that sometime before he gets currency would be the best time to strike. Speaking of that, I have had cultural majority in the plains hill south of my iron for two full turns now without it flipping. I thought that could only happen for 1t. You learn something new every day. When it flips I may go for a small attack on that border city.

Oh, also apparently I failed to report that I got MoM, but I'm sure other people did. Not exactly a surprise there.
