Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS]PB34: Gawdzak and chumchu

Would you be able to play the coming turn Dreylin? I'm going away in an hour and will be back on saturday evening. The plan is to whip the granaries and move the workers from the front to the two new cities being planted.

Shouldn't be a problem; I did finally download & install the mod version last night. Turn's due to roll this evening from what I can see?

Thanks! No stress with playing the turn.

Turn rolled late in my window last night; I wasn't sure when you were back, but I can still get to it tonight before it rolls if needed.

Played the turn.

Whipped both Granaries. Moved the Workers to speed the Settler and connect towards the Northern site:

Turn rolled, but I left it unplayed for you; if needed I can play tomorrow.

Great! I'm in GMT+1 so I can play this turn without problem when I get back tonight.

Was a bit worried that Gsorel might attack the worker but thankfully he remained peaceful. We might just have the time to build units/workers/barracks in our border cities. Now we need some kind of edge ot be able to catch up economically while building enough military at the same time. He is already teching writing =(.

Were are up to 5 cities 5 workers ATM with a sixth worker on the way and a sixth settler starting to build in the cap in 2 turns. In 5 turns we will have furs online for some needed happy cap to slave further and work more plains mines in the cap. Ivory will be in the next city which will be settled in 6 or 7 turns

Scouting has revealed a southern neighbor and that the map seems to be a lot of small oceans surrounded by land. I think we should claim the nice sugar/whale/clam/cow spot with our second next settler. but we will need some roads and units.

We are still lagging behind Gsorel in most graphs .

He also has writing tech on us which probably means that he has already started working on an academy =(. We could get writing in 7 turns but only Rome is ready for a library then. Better to get sailing for cheap lighthouses to boost our 5 coastal cities with 1 or 2 food each. We might need to work some coast to get to the techs we need and the connection bonus would be nice as well. Then writing. After that we need math into calendar into iron working to improve our land and construction into HBR for military. Can we get the worker techs first I wonder?

Report turn 70:

First some maps:

We have encountered some barbarians to our west and koreans to our south. I have dispatched 2 archers and 1 axe to deal with the barbs and defend the border city I am building towards korea. I am building new archers to replace the shortfall in the border cities. Placing it is proving very hard as I can only get the whales and clams by settling away from sugar and cow. I am leaning towards placing it centrally so that it can claim all resources after culture growth although this means that will have to build a library.

Our scout has been very valuable so far, surviving animals and dodging barbarians. I will need to build a galley to scout more with soon. I really want to know what lies on the other side of gsorel. He has 10 cities at the moment which is really scary.

Even if we are catching up in the other graphs.

How do I dig myself out of this hole? I really wish we had Victoria instead of Julius now so that our edge would come that much faster. Here is a number of bad plans. First offensive then defensive.

Plan 1) Surprise attack on his nearby city to reign Gsorel in. 2 axes in a galley should kill his only impi defender, right? The small problem is that he will see it a turn before surely. The larger problem is that he is aggressive and will still be 3 cities ahead of us and probably upset.
Plan 2) HBR and rush Gsorels two neareast cities or if they look too strong maybe attack Korea.
Plan 3) Tech construction and HBR and attack with elepult. The problem is that he is ahead of us in tech and will have tech visibility by then. He have had writing for a while so his lead looks to be increasing =(

Plan 4) Calendar beeline for 4 happiness and maybe MoM. We try to grow the cities and get cottages and coast going. It is definitely superior to the monarchy route towards COL.
Plan 5) Get an academy up in our commerce city asap and push it hard. We need calendar and ironworking and massive worker labour to get the dyes, spices and gems going. It will be later than other commerce hubs but it will be great.
Plan 6) Yolo Pyramids. They are crazy expensive but very good for our organized russian plans. But it also paints a fat target on our backs. Maybe we can do really early MC and try to generate an engineer so that we do not have to invest as much into it?

Hey, sorry I've been a bit absent; catching up reporting my other games, but I was about to pop in and see how things were going. Seems good considering ... although I'm sad about losing those first-ring tiles on the border! :snakehead:

There's so much nice land out there, the Scout definitely needs a raise - or maybe a name. wink

That Sugar pod looks a pain to settle; if the Sugar hill would give you an extra food on the city tile, I'd say there for sure. IMO orphaning the clams is not a tradegy and a city founded next to the Cows looks better than one with no 1st-ring food.

Calendar looks a good route with all those resources; I'd probably lean defensive vs gsorel and concentrate on settling back away into the lushness.

Not much to do about it. We have a border pop in 4 turns. and then we can mine and camp.

Tech plan is mathematics, calendar, iron, masonry, construction, HBR.

A we ended up with some congestion on the roads as the barbarian edged closer and koreans settled on us. We had to use a chop to finish an archer instead ow workboat in our new city but now the menace is dealt with for good. The unprotected korean city guarded by a single warrior looks tempting and I'm going to try nabbing it unless Nicolae reinforces it before our reinforcements reach it.

We have gotten graphs on Korea and they are slightly behind us in most aspects.
