Mr. Yellow's diplomacy is unreal. It's as though his intention is to annoy all of his neighbours to the maximum extent possible, and then encourage them to form a coalition to end his misery.

It's especially poignant in light of his statement (about the Malakim) that
"Having a player with a very expansionistic approach is a bad neighbour and i [sic] would look elsewhere for good partners while trying to isolate the bad ones" I mean honestly, his first move in the game was an incredibly blatant land-grab towards Nyktorion, then he wanted a city next to the Malakim capital, and now he's complaining about Thoth being expansionistic
I don't think I could even remotely do diplomacy with Mr. Yellow. Asking for free worker turns AND a city for 10T Marble loan? He should know that no one will agree to that. If he had at least tried from the start to put more into the pot - maybe the Form of the Titan...
Correct me if I'm wrong here... but form of the titan doesn't actually apply to demagogues does it? I was under the impression that they wouldn't gain any free xp at all. In which case "giving up the Titan" could definitely be a good move.
I remember reading that demagogs get experience from the city they're in the BFC of, or something. I don't remember exactly...it might have been draft-level experience.

Brews in Eberus the wind of WAR! Despite Mr.Yellow requiring 10 turns to hook up the copper, I think it might be difficult for the Malakim offensive to take his capital though. Thoth do not have enough intelligence about Bannor mainland for "the scouting party" to successfully exploit the brief window of opportunity; the confusion might just be enough for Mr. Yellow to set up stack of bronze sword warriors- of course whether he'll be able to maintain his trade connection to the copper for so long is another problem.
Regarding Nyktorion how does he intend to "give up the dispute" (I am guessing the culture war between Vallus-Yonma)? With him finishing the Carnival on Vallus it's not like he can stop the city from further pressuring the elves borders. If Mr. Yellow just wants to say "K, I'll stop telling you to give up the city" then . But I equally can't see him letting Nyktorion take or raze the Vallus either. And considering how difficult it is to expand while in war the offer to give up Seven Pines site isn't that tempting as well. EDIT: Just looking at the update now, looks like Nyktorion indeed thinks the same as me. Kinda ironic that his attempt at alliance spectacularly backfired. Also did no one PM Sulla, because if not I'll bother him again ![]() EDIT 2: Oh, it's Su'lll'a.
Gonna be interesting to see if Nyktorion attacks Mr Yellow too.
To be honest that was my first thought when I saw Mr Yellow's update. He's basically telling Nyktorion "Come attack me because I will have most of my army in the west defending against Thoth". Or at least that's how I interpreted it.
I don't think it matters much whether Thoth can take down the Bannor by himself. I can't imagine Nyktorion not jumping at the opportunity to attack from the east, and there's no way the Bannor can take them both. Once he gets a hawk in Yonna he should be able to make contact with Thoth.
...And I just read Nyktorion's last update, and he concurs.

Though my lurker heart desires to see Mr Yellow being forced into epic two-front war, Nyktorion's decision to offer NAP til 105 looks like sound decision to me. Now he'll have time to raze that barbarian city, and prepare a better offensive. Also I think early phases of the war will be its bloodiest should Bannor decide not to give up Tentatio-onis; Nyktorion will enjoy seeing Mr Yellow and Thoth kill each other off in spectacular struggle...
![]() Of course Mr Yellow will soon know what's up when the elves start increasing their power while keeping radio silence about NAP extension, but what can he do about it? |
