Yeah, culture also doesn't get barbs. But workers and so on, sure.

Only wounded units can get healing. You never get the free warrior in an MP game. You can't get a tech if you don't have a city. Only units that can earn XP can pop XP, and never in the first 10 turns of the game. And finally you can never pop barbs if you don't have a city, nor if you have only your capital and the hut is within the area your capital's seventh ring would cover if there were such a thing as a seventh ring.

Something I had been wondering, since I kinda forget. Does whether you use a warrior or a scout to get the hut make any difference? Are scouts more likely to get better results, or does it truly not matter? I always thought scouts made things better, but I think maybe I was just assuming that.

The basic rule of thumb is it won't make a difference within Legendary + 1 radius of your start. Barbs are not allowed from your units popping huts in that area. (There are a few intricacies, but that works well enough in a regular game.)

Not quite, as non-military units can't get the experience goody.
