Sounds good Azza, you're most welcome Would you like to team up with someone? From experience, team games are a lot of fun. In theory they can also save you time, although experience so far suggests the opposite

About the map though, I think it would be better to just do a simple setup, either like a lakes or Pangaea with relevant islands around it (if we really want sailing), so that we still have contact but it's not too odd of a setup. I was looking at this being more of a regular game than one with a specialty map setup.
That said, if the majority wants otherwise then I'll cede that, so why don't we put in our votes for what we want?
1) Custom script creation, as per Sian's suggestion or otherwise.
2) Regular Pangaea/lakes map edited for balance by mapmaker.
I vote numbah 2, though that was probably obvious

I'm fine with using a standard map script, but if we go with an asymmetric one it's even more important to have a mapmaker look it over closely. Little differences can snowball fast, which can be really disheartening. Having a fairly standard map is perfectly fine with me, but I really do think we need it balanced by a mapmaker whatever we end up with. Completely random maps are more for silly games like PB7

I agree, we want it to be fair and not decided by the luck of the generator.
Again, who wants to show off their mapmaking wares? I'll give you ONE WHOLE COOKIE!

I'm fine with using a standard map script (balanced of course) but I'd prefer lakes or maybe highlands? Of course if any mapmaker wants to do an unusual script that's fine by me as well. But seeing as we don't have an excited mapmaker waiting in the wings yet I'm guessing a balanced standard map will be the choice.

Well, if you want to wait till the weekend, I certainly can do that. I just need somebody telling me your picks, your preferences (low or high difficulty, big or small map, more land or more water, rather natural and unbalanced or balanced and mirrored [though I personally would prefer to do a mirrored one, as it is simply easier to make sure that no one is screwed over by an oversight of me], your settings like AW, barbarians or not, and so on) and thats it.
Though I don't have anything fancy in my mind right now. Just a pretty standard map with maybe one or two highlights.

Quote:Standard diplo?
One only of Fin/Exp/Inca/India.
Snake pick leaders/civ?
Difficulty/wrap?
Boat importance?
Mirroring (total mirror or capitals only)?

No barbs?
No huts?

No Nukes?
No SoZ?
No WE?
No events?
No religious victory, but AP is fine?
I'm dedlurking Brick, but he's got the full vote for team us.

Well, we seem to be okay with a regular map by the majority at this point, and I was a bit partial to lakes myself, so let's say a lakes, and give a bt of time for any objections to be discussed. But this sounds like a good start!

Thank you Serdoa! And honestly, it doesn't have to be anything too fancy, just a layout that looks relatively fair and fun. I'm about to make a post listing all of what we have option-wise so far, and I'll include questions fer everyone about those map properties for you to get a good idea with what to go with. The only thing is I don't know if there's an easy way to mirror 4 different starts, but if there is, then sounds good to me.
EDIT:
And of course, I'm beaten to the punch about the rules list, oh well
