I say keep a chariot or two on hand close to that city. In case the possibility of sniping it presents itself...

Indeed... it seems unlikely, but you never know. Will keep a watchful eye out, but won't advance unless the situation changes.

Not much time... but thought I'd post up a quick pic of our new 5-city empire. smile

Whipped the capital. This whip combined with 2 forest chops over the next 2 turns will enable us to build 4 Chariots in 4 turns. That should quite easily reclaim us the #1 power spot (we're currently #3 at 57,000 soldiers while the #1 is at 60,000 soldiers). We'll regrow next turn to size 5 next turn.

Note that we're working the lake rather than the mine because the current Chariot will be finished at 61/30 hammers. This way we waste only 1 hammer and gain 2 commerce; working the mine this turn would waste 4 hammers and lose 1 food (and also not allow us to grow back to size 5 in 1 turn). So it all fits together fairly neatly. smile

I spy... an ASM Archer named Spearman? Nice try. I guess our Chariot is named Scout, so it evens out. tongue

Moved the Chariot back 1SE to defend the Copper if necessary. No way is he pillaging that. If he moves to try to do so, I've got 3 Chariots within range to eat him alive. lol

Also... attack of the barbarians!

Moved the Chariot to defend the one tile we don't want the barb to move to (forking three tiles and delaying the Gold hook-up). He should either attack us (99.1% odds we'll win) or move around us next turn. Anyone know what the odds are of a barbarian choosing to engage in battle vs walk by in a particular situation, by the way?

The barbs have also decided to approach from the south...

Assuming they move 1NW next turn, we'll have ~99.4% odds defending the capital and ~87% odds defending the hill. Should we move the Warrior on the hill back into the capital? It all depends on what the odds of barbarians attacking vs walking by are. We don't want to put the Gold tile in any risk whatsoever. But it'd be nice to also remove the ~13% risk of losing a Warrior. Again, if someone knows the odds of barbs choosing to attack vs walk by, that sure would be handy to have as a reference. I'm sure I recall seeing something about that on CFC at one point, but can't remember where. smile

Well, Ninja (the Chariot) won his battle, though went down to 1.8/4 strength in the process. And the barbarian near I'm on a Boat! did indeed approach - he's now 1SE of the city tile. Thoughts on what to do? I'm almost positive that in the current situation, the barb will attack whatever has the better odds (i.e. 13% against the guy on the hill). And remember even if he does attack the city he'll only have 0.6% odds.

We can engage aggressively - that'd be 73% odds on the first Warrior, probably 90+% on the second if the first dies. Maybe a bit risky.

So, a decision?

Oh, and ASM moved his Archer named Spearman away right at the start of the turn... so apparently he was more frightened of us than we were of him. Probably with good reason. tongue

I say keep both warriors where they are. Fortification bonus is nice.

And it is also nice that we have pottery in; Time to uncrash our economy.

Yeah, that's my instinct too. We'd have to be pretty unlucky to lose one of them. Let's just hope the RNG doesn't screw us over. smile

Should be 12.2% odds of losing the guy on the hill, by the way - so a little less than I estimated.

I think the barbs usually go with the one that they have better odds against.

Yeah, that's what the tests I've run seem to show as well. So we can expect that the hill Warrior (T-Pain) will be attacked at 12.2% odds at the start of next turn. In the unlikely event that he's killed, the barbarian should at least be fairly heavily wounded, and easy to clean up. But here's hoping T-Pain will pull through for us anyway. smile
