A while back Occhi posted about a forthcoming game, Guild Wars, that is likely to be of interest to our RBD community. You can check out the website at http://www.guildwars.com, but basically it's an MMORPG, though without a monthly fee. From the comments that alpha/beta testers have made, it's supposed to *require* cooperation in order to make efficient progress through the game. And (we'll see if this pans out!) game balance is rumored to be good (!), and lag is supposedly non-existent due to the way they stream the game data.
Anyway, the big World Preview Event is this weekend - everyone can get online and try it out. All you need to do is download the small client program, available at the website. I'm planning on giving it a try, probably all of the weekend evenings - is anyone else interested in assembling a small test RBD team to check it out? If so, we can plan out character classes and times to meet.
Cheers,
Hawkmoon

Occhi then promptly made significant plans for October's last weekend, completely acing self out of the WPE.
Rube is as rube does. Where I am going might have an internet cafe, but I doubt I'll be on it, it's a people thing.
That said, I will probably pre order the game on a hunch.
Hell, I have a copy of MOO3 that has barely been touched, a copy of Neverwinter nights that saw maybe two hours of play time, likewise age of Empires, and so on.
In other news, I just started Occhidiangela, Immortal Hero, in Diablo I.
Yep, I are a rube.

I am interested. Whether I can make it or not, I don't yet know.
Oh my gosh. If I do this, it will by my first-ever MMOG activity.

Seeing as how I usually live a boring life, I would like to give it a try.
I have not had the pleasure (and displeasure) of cooperative play in a while.
My schedule is also shaky, but I shall see.

How about them apples? They say they do not fall far from the tree, and that one can spoil the whole bunch. Well I say we may not all be rotten, but we are all spoiled.

I sincerely hope you can play with us and that connectivity from the Land of Aus allows a rewarding coop experience.

It has begun, apparently starting the game a day earlier is a tradition of Arena.net.
Soul Edge The First (yes, I am no good at coming up with name ) is a monk/mesmer, did her first mission, which is a solo introduction/tutorial.
I still trying to get used to the controls, my main problem is the camera though, rather disoriented, guess I am just not used to 3D game environment.
Probably going to create another charater though, because I have ignored the advice of the mesmer class description, which states that newbie such as myself should probably best not to play a mesmer as first character. Even though Soul Edge The First primary class is a monk, a monk/mesmer starts with rather passive skills that probably better on a party, for now I just want to get used to the control, so prefering to solo a bit, and find the lack of offensive skills rather hindering.
Soul Edge Da Second (EDITED name because of length limit in game) will be created after I post this, hope to see you all soon!

Interesting look and feel to this one. No idea how it actually plays.
I don't know that I'll get the time to try it much either--Halloween weekend + Georgia vs Florida...
Sigh, WoW, EQ2, and GuildWars are all coming soon.
Which one to play?
A screeny for y'all:
