Bigger, if could make a suggestion?
It would be a nice idea to turn on the grid and the resource bubble when showing pictures of the map. For example you wouldn't have to point out the fish north of the crab (I caught it, but it is fairly invisible, I wouldn't have noticed it without you saying it were there, the resource bubbles have a problem with the row at the bottom of the screen yes so that is still commentable). And the grid will allow for easier analysis of potential BFCs without going to the bother of getting out MS Paint.
P.S. I'm not ded-lurking, I want to keep an eye on the bigger picture, but this is the only player thread I'm following. So good luck.

Could someone have met someone else already and be getting the research bonus or trade routes or are they researching something with a pre-req bonus?
Or is it a fin civ on the grassland river gold we can be sure everyone else got?
I don't know much about GNP, just trying to get my head around techs and soldiers for now...
Bigger Wrote:Finally, a hut! we can pop it next turn, but I'll need input where to go afterwards. I can finish the scout in the forest to try and scout the little peninsula there, or I can move him NE to make it to the PH the following turn.
Probably go NE unless that's a lake?
Bigger Wrote:Also, we have stone nearby, but no food resources near the stone (yet). Another option might be to go SW, SW with the scout hoping for seafood to make the stone city viable? Although we really need to fill out the west before heading east, city #2 will have to go along the coast there to get a workboat out for our capital (1s of grassland spices will work, but if there is food or something else over there we could do 2S of it).
Would putting city #2 1w of the spices be good to get cottages up and running in the capital?

yes, that's smart. It will be awhile before the capital has the happy to work all its cottages, and that spot can work 4 (including a riverside plains cottage), growing them for a super capital post-HR or more happies, and can borrow the rice and/or wheat as needed
lets see whats revealed east of the oasis.

we're last to play so i decided to pop the hut. We got 35 gold from it. ah well, it could be worse .
since we could see the southern point of the right peninsula, I moved NE after the hut.
thats at least a 5 tile fresh water lake. That lake may be the best we can do for food in the stone city, I think.
I'm considering whether to move SE, E to flesh out that peninsula (which I guess must connect to northern landmass since we have a lake here and not coast) OR to move to NW, NE to hit the plains hill and start going west (leaving the rest of the east for a future warrior).
mining is due in 1 turn.

Well there are four tiles to check up north, but it doesn't feel like any will be exciting, so perhaps we can leave them for later? because a maoi lake sounds great!
Can you grab demos? - I'm on my phone, which is too dumb to log in with.

ok, well, its a good thing I checked it out:
I suspected this would happen with the 11 players on large (large = 9 player map).
purple borders, I believe that is Azza, although it could be nakor/tatan or slowcheetah/catwalk. none of those 3 are especially intimidating, although I expect the first 2 at least to be competent militarily.
we haven't officially met yet, perhaps I should retreat so they don't know we are here, and hope they expand in the other direction? Otherwise our beautiful moai site claiming stone is in jeaopardy. OTOH, if we can secure that city with a healthy garrison we can cut him off from the rest of the continent. The fact that that hut next to the stone strongly suggests they have done no scouting in our direction.
I guess we wait and see where bronze is .
a view of our capital with resource bubbles turned on:
demos right before hitting enter:
note that I'm switching between the riverside wheat and riverside rice. since we aren't EXP, it makes no difference to our worker speed, so maybe it will confuse someone trying to do C&D . Can't hurt, anyway.

ok, azza is napoleon of Rome. Praets this close will be scary, we need to consider a warrior choke followed up by settling for copper (and cross our fingers that we get it close by - I do believe the one riverside grassland tile is a strategic resource added by Krill to meet the specifications, so I sure hope its copper and not Iron or horses).
edit: azza hasn't played the turn yet, so unless I hear a good reason for making contact I am going to retreat as soon as the turn rolls so he doesnt see me.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Not sure we need to go all warrior choking here. That's a bit premature. I was really hoping we could sit back a bit. Let's at least see where Copper is.
Do we want to meet them? Yes, but from a different direction how bout? I say scout moves N-SE. Then E and tries to circle round to meet them from the east. I don't want to backtrack with the scout at this point. What do we lose by meeting Azza?
