Or maybe put four hammers into a spear/axe this turn, and whip the workboat next turn instead. I'll experiment a bit more.
If you know what I mean.

Let's do this. After that, we can grow to 5 and 2-whip a galley, regrow to 5 and 2-whip the axe, then regrow to 4 and 2-whip the statues, overflowing into the lighthouse on T111.

Disregard the research slider of course; at this point we should be a handful of turns into our golden age.

That's a lot of growing without a lighthouse.
I have to run.

Good point. Here it is completing one turn later, at EOT111, after whipping the workboat, the lighthouse, a galley and an axe:

It will be stuck at size 3 (with spices and silks connected), so maybe this is a bit extreme, though? Though I guess we could also have ivory and sugar connected by then, so maybe that's fine.

In that latest run I did put four hammers into the axe on this turn, and whipped the work boat next turn. Three of those hammers decayed before I actually whipped the axe, though. If we whip the axe before the galley, that's not an issue. We obviously can't put hammers into the galley or lighthouse before sailing. Waiting one turn to whip the workboat makes sense, because the whip anger is stacked anyway, and we don't need the workboat any sooner. So no point in spending an extra turn at size 1 by whipping it immediately.

I would consider just whipping WB now overflowing to Moai and 2 pop whip Lighthouse when it gives max overflow and building Moai utilising Mine and possibly whipping it right before GA. Our city would be larger having less whip anger when GA starts and could build e.g. Galley very fast.

We need to think a bit on when to fire a golden age, I think. We don't necessarily do it the minute we land Music. Ideally we want the Moai city (and our cities in general) to be big and happy when we fire the golden age. We'll probably want to grow our cities and fill our foodboxes, then run caste system for specialist goodness in a select few cities during the golden age. We don't want to whip during a golden age anyway. And of course time the golden age so we get in the civic swaps we want.

After the lighthouse, the Moai city has 5 good tiles - three seafood resources, the lake, and the mine. So repeated whipping from size 6->4 might be the ideal. I dunno, this is all theorycrafting, of course.
I have to run.

During golden age Moai boosted coast is definately worthwhile. I would try to make the city bigger before GA. Other times whipping and keeping the city smallish would be ok.

I meant while building Moai. After Moai we should grow to the happy cap.

I think I whipped from 2->1 (workboat), 4->2 (lighthouse), 5->3 (galley), 4->2 (axe) and 4->2 (moai). If we're fine with a later moai date, then growing larger before the latter whips probably makes sense.

Regardless of what else we do, whipping the workboat now and spending two turns at size 1 seems inferior to whipping it next turn and spending just one turn at size 1.
